This is a very poignant story. It is limited in scope, imagery and sensations because of the limitation of word count. You have done a fine job in spite of it.

Thank you for your honest review. I?m usually very wordy in my prose. I took the challenge of 50 words to see if I could make sense in so few words.
Thanks again!

Good story!
Is Paul troubled, or maybe it is his daughters who are troubled? Just something to think about.
In para 1, "every" should be "ever."
Maybe para 1 and 2 should be just one big paragraph.
Nice ending.

Thank you so much for the helpful review. I went back and made some changes. I hope it?s clearer now.

This is a charming tale with a message for modern times. It relies on the photo and your backstory for us to know that Trixie, the babysitter, was a dog, but your 50 words are well told. There is one small correction to fix in this line: "only babysitter my mother every(drop the y) had. "

Yes, I hope it does. I told my kids that every generation has its crisis, this one belongs to the Millennials. I hope they can dig us out of this mess.
Thanks for getting the deeper message behind this short story.

I've read them all and this back story is as good as the actual story. I did see the one word "ever[y]" that should be ever. Good luck in this contest. xoxo Kiwi

Thank you for the wonderful review, Kiwi, and for finding the Spag on ever. Funny how many times you can read the same word and still miss the mistake.
Again, much thanks.

Very innovative, I must say. There is something about dogs that mystifies me. If they are a beast, how come they are so clever. They really are a dependable species. Sometimes, more dependable than man.

I completely agree. In some ways, dogs show more sense than we do. Thanks for taking time to review!

Hello, my friend,
a beautiful little story about the family dog, the perfect babysitter. I know dogs are more loyal than most people. Your word count is right. Well done.

What a topic for the contest--love it. You expressed your thoughts/feelings well, Mystery Author. I enjoyed reading your entry. Your words flow smoothly with great imagery. I could 'see' Trixie protecting her family. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

This was a very sweet short story. Dogs are not only the best friends, but can be the best minders too. The positive message within was lovely to read too!

Thanks for the fifty word story. I'm wondering if "Trixie" was real in your life. My brothers and I never had a babysitter. Overcoming adversities in life though tough at times, will strengthen us for future battles. Good Luck!!

The character was my father, and Trixie was their dog. I should add more about her in the Author?s notes.
Thanks so much for your review.
