This is so sad. Your poem captures why we love our pets so much. I love how you wrote this to your pet. This is a wonderful poem. My one thought is you may want to count syllables to get each line closer to the same syllable count. It will flow better. But that is a minor thing. The warmth and emotion comes through.

Our pets are loyal to us in the first instance because they need food and then they grow to be connected to us and know we are the only ones that truly care about them, what they give in return is priceless, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

This is an apt tribute to pets. Very nicely crafted. They are our sanctuary, at times. When things are good they are there and when things are bad, they stay the same, which is a comfort. Their closeness is unmistakable and their loss is heartbreaking.
