Haha I actually love wearing such caps and I actually am 25! Though I think that in my case, the caps/hat make me look older! Which is just fine by me! As long as I am comfortable being me then the rest just have to deal with it. :-)
Your story was a fun read and I always admire when a writer uses real life conversations to churn out a good story! Well done!

You agaaain! Hats Off to YOU for being such a diligent follower. Before writing this piece, I had assumed the hat rules died out in the 50's; turns out they are, alas, alive and well. I think men should be allowed to wear hats as a fashion statement, same as women. That said, I cringe at the statement made by team-touting baseball caps--whether worn indoors or out! Cheers. LIZ

Haha well fanstory is my new hobby and I?ve been spending so much time here for the last couple of months since I joined! So, yes, its me again! :-)
I think so too! I do not believe in being strict about traditions and all...if you like it, wear it wherever and however you wish! :-)

Thank you for sharing this story. I was entertaining and also made me think! I am itching to look up the origin of the custom of taking one's hat off in the building. It definitely sounds like a Victorian custom, but being a teacher, I would love to be able to tell children why I am asking them to take their hats off, as it has always struck me as slightly arbitrary.
