This is a great presentation, Aussie. I love the color scheme. I knew this was for the abc contest when I saw the number of lines and the beginnings of each. You did a great job with some difficult letters ( 'q' for example). It all makes perfect sense. Your picture is beautiful. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully, Jan

Hello Jan, Thanks so much for reading. Glad you enjoyed. Not many pick 'q' too difficult but it fitted nicely. Love, Kay.

I think this is a good entry for the ABC Poetry contest.
This short verse tells us a story of the Opal.
Well done and I wish you good luck with the contest.
Sharon

Hello, Aussie,

Opal is a fine entry for the ABC contest. The presentation is beautiful. The poem is about a Lapis fire opal stone. It'smy favorite one.

Such a wonderful ABC offering that uses one of the difficult combinations (with Q) flawlessly -- thanx for sharing and good luck! ;)

gems hidden --> gem's hidden

found, jewellry bound --> found, jewelry bound

That is American spelling for jewelry my friend. We say jewellry. No never mind. Thanks for reading and I will fix gem's. Blessings, K.

Hello Kace, this is a well written, well thought out ABC poem and your words are good and true. Some very nice rhyme. I had an opal ring, it went with a great deal more when we were burgled. Many years later my brother bought me an opal ring which I treasure above all else - he died last April.
More people admire that ring - it has an unusual setting, than anything else I wear. Your poem is bringing back memories - thanks for sharing. Good Luck in the contest - a good contender I think. Love Dorothy xxx

Hello Dorothy, So glad you treasure your ring. Yes, opals are so beautiful. So much work goes into mining them by hand. I hope you were insured? Thank you for reading my friend. Love, Kace.

I am fortunate enough to own a couple of these treasures from down under. My grandmother brought me back black opals when she visited Australia years ago. They are exquisite!

Hi June, I hope they are insured? Black opals are worth a fortune now; only in Oz. Thank you for reading my friend. Love, Kay.

A fine write about the opal and my brother-in-law mined a black opal for me when I was expecting my first child and I had it made into a beautiful ring surrounded by diamonds, now that child is over forty, I gave her that ring, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

G'day Dolly, You were lucky your brother-in-law found a black opal. Much prized and only found in Oz. So nice you passed it to your daughter. Thanks for reading my friend. Love, Kay.

This ABC poem is magnificent. The beautifully rhymed lines flow easily from one into the next, describing the exquisite gems. The iridescence in the picture is a fitting complement to the poem. Very pleasingly presented!

Hello Mary, Thanks so much for your splendid review. Yes, they are so beautiful; black opal is only found here in Oz. Love, Kay.

Oz? That's an actual place? I had no idea! Is that a "black" opal, in the picture, or some other kind? The one in the picture is magnificent.
Whose hand is behind you in your profile pic? It looks like a reflection -- yet it's behind you! Very strange! Don't mean to be nosy, but I am curious, haha. Xoxo

Oh, Mary, Oz is short for Australia! Nosy Parker you, my carer is standing behind my wheelchair in the photo! Ha, Ha, love Kay.

And Mary, the opal is a Lapis fire opal. Explained in my author's notes sweetie-pie.

Yes, thank you, I did see it there after I wrote that! I am curious about what the black opal looks like, so I may look it up, even knowing that a photo may not do it justice.

I didn't know that about Australia! Is that where the tornado took Dorothy, when she left Kansas -- all the way to Australia? Hahaha! You use a wheelchair? I use a rollater walker. You and your carer are wearing the same color. Just call me Curious Georgia. Thanks for being a good sport :-)

I welcome curious Americans! I am an amputee and use electric wheelchair. I am 74 - how old are you?
reply by Mary Kay Bonfante on 24-Feb-2020
I'm 62, Kay. I'm so sorry for being a "Nosy Parker," lol, I had to look that one up! Sorry about your condition. I have arthritis, some slipped (herniated) discs and a neurological problem that can potentially cause pain so awful that I need to sit immediately, or I could faint. But it's been dormant for some years now, hasn't had a major flareup.
The only reason I asked you was -- it looked like you had a reflection of your own hand, behind you, and it seemed impossible! I hope it doesn't hurt where you have the amputation. I heard that can happen sometimes. And I hope you're doing very well otherwise. God bless you! xoxo - Mary Kay
