I really enjoyed the story you told within your verses. Very interesting description of your life growing up back in the good old days. I really like this line
Those eerie nights waiting for that first
born to arrive, wondering if the wonderful
boy would survive.
Very touching and very vivid
Wishing you the best in the contest

Michael, not always a bed of roses, life! But we survive and sometimes thrive.

You made a zoom by the days of your life. But yes, the good old days are now. And it's wise to look around and enjoy what we have now. I go back in memory a lot to when the kids were small - but my strength is not what it once was.
There are seasons. Good job on your poem

Yes... The good ol' days came and went in the blink of an eye. This was fun to read, as we all have that moment in our prime, when life is hectic, yet hopefully where the best memories are made.

It is so nice that past is past, the future yet to be revealed and we have this special moment in time!

I really like your poem about the good old days. Your life story is very typical about the not so always good old days often full of stress. Take care Jen.

Jen, just a snapshot of life as a whole, but what a life it is!

Some people, as they get older, tend to partially rewrite the past, giving it more shine than it really had or making it seem more carefree than it really was. Your well-written poem conveys a moving message about the power of memories. Two parts that made me stumble: (1) wondering
wonders" (?) and (2) "Would . . . spent" (?)

Yes I see where this would make one stumble. Thanks for bringing this to the surface for a fresher look.

"These Are the Good Old Days", is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. It was a pleasure to read and review this talented poet's work. To me, this is a six, but I've run out of them.
I look forward to seeing your next post.

Thank God that the old days that I knew and went through were kinder than I fear these day would have been to me. Those days were tough, but I managed to get through them. I was blessed more times than I could count. Although there were challenges to get through I thank God that my parents equipped me well enough to not become a victim of them. I pray that I have done as good a job of preparing my own children for the perilous times ahead.

No I, I too am right in lock-step with you, I think, our journey was, while challenging at times, most things were achievable...I fear not so much in years to come.

Isn't amazing how most of us tend to forget the tough times and color the past all rosy? Looks like you took a more realistic view. I like how all that hard work has paid off and now you can enjoy the rewards you deserve.

I think this is a good entry for the "The Good Old Days" writing prompt.
Your verse tells of building today, yesterday. Well done.
I wish you luck with the contest.
