A very close chapter about being back to civilization after the troubled times in prison it is great to be back in normal circumstances again. There are still many secrets to uncover.

Good job, ?Tony, with the answered questions. The pieces are starting to fit together. I was glad to see mention of the French Letter. I believe there will much more info divulged in the upcoming chapters about how all this has played out and will continue. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

The thing I like about your hero, Charles, is that he is so human, so believable in so many ways. By the end of this episode he is ravenously hungry, which he would be I think under the circumstances I hope he enjoys his dinner.

Thanks for that comment, Jim. He's been the easiest character to develop. The Culverson sisters, on the other hand, have presented quite a challenge. As you would no doubt know, it's not easy to get inside the mind of a woman! All good wishes, Tony

At least he's back among civilization of sorts and with friends. I can't get over milk and 7-Up. Yuck! Now, to get Helen back and everyone safely home. I can sympathize with Charles when he first arrived, looking as he must have.

What a wonderful chapter. I love the banter and the wonderful insinuation about the French Letter towards the end. What a wonderful double entendre. But now, what about Helen? All best. Ulla:))

I'm so glad Charles is safe. I hope they are able to find Helen soon and that she's alright. Your story is well-written, interesting. Your characters, dialogue, and plot seem very realistic, believable.

At least Charles is safe, but we don't know about Helen, but I'm pretty sure she is unharmed, right now. I don't know about being safe. I really enjoy reading this story and can't wait for more.

I always find your dialogue spot on. I love the thought of 'brothel creepers' too. It's good that Charles has been rescued from his solitary confinement.
I didn't find any edits to suggest at all. However .... forgive me for asking, and I'm sure it's okay, but can you 'cast around' in a visual sense? It doesn't ring quite correct to me. It's probably another one of those things I need to learn. I'm talking about the following:
When I reached the lobby, I cast around to see if I could catch sight of Bisto and Kayla.
Have a great week.

Thanks very much for your supportive comments and sixer, Judy. I will change that to 'cast my eyes around', for the sake of clarity. I'd written it on the assumption that the eyes would be understood from the context. However, being more specific is clearer. Thanks for pointing that one out. All the best, Tony

I did understand he was looking around so please, leave it if you're happy with it. I know 'cast around' as for ideas or whatever but hadn't heard it used in this context.

I can imagine how Charles felt at walking into a hotel looking the way he did. After all that time incarcerated in that hell hole. I'm worried about Helen, and just hope she's alright. So much in this chapter, Tony, and yet you still managed to bring in some humour. I laughed at poor Bisto's expense, LOL. Excellent part, my friend. :)) Sandra. (one little nit below.) xxx

Very many thanks for your lovely review, Sandra, and for the sixth star, the icing on the cake! (What a silly expression that is - I always remove the icing!) I appreciate the nitpick - fixed now. No matter how hard I scratch, there are always one or two that evade notice.
