well, Mr. Fawcus, I haven't had the pleasure of reading your other chapters, but this one is fascinating. Fast and interesting reading. I hope the poor man is released.
That is surely some list of characters!
I imagine your real life experiences fueled this book.
very nice.

I appreciate your time, dropping by to review this chapter, also your generous comments. Yes, there are some parts of the story that have grown out of personal experiences, but not this one, thankfully!

This chapter starts with such depressing despondency. The prisoners don't have music hope for release or relief. I like how you cut to Helen and her escape. Hope has broken through and raised its beautiful head. Okay that's one good thing. Now we have to wait to find out how Charles gets out of this awful situation.

As I read this chapter it took me back to my dad, a POW in WW2 wondering what his thoughts were, were they like Charles, full of home. But then I in comes Helen, kick-boxing her way out of jail leaving her jailer neatly packaged. Great chapter Tony,
cheers,
valda

Another six! You?re very kind. I?ve often wondered what one might do to maintain sanity in jail. Hanging on to the good times would help, I imagine. Best wishes, Tony.

Interesting turn of events in this chapter, Tony. I wonder how Helen will be able to rescue Charles. But with her knowledge of the area and the fact that she speaks the language, I believe she will do so with flair. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

Hi Tony, This is a great chapter. I have to say that Helen is a resourceful lass, and I'm sure she will figure out a way to get Brandon out of that hell hole. How all this tie into the letter I'm not quite sure. All the best. Ulla:))

Thanks, Ulla. I hope he gets out soon. Difficult having the narrator behind bars! LOL

A very well-written chapter and a detailed description of the cruelness and bad policy one can find in foreign prisons, they don't care if you are guilty of not they just beat you up for no reason.

Poor Charles. What a nightmarish place to be in. There's no such thing as prisoner's rights in those places. I'm amazed at what Helen was able to accomplish. Things will be looking up soon. I'd like to get Charles back home, even though he's lost his lovely little cottage.

Oh man! What a place to stop as I was just getting all settled in to see how Helen had been getting on through all this - I am guessing better than he is as she actually is the stronger of the two from my perspective. I loved the beautifully picturesque flashbacks to gentler times - quite appropriate since that is naturally the sort of solace the mind seeks in times of severe stress. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

Many thanks. Glad you thought the flashbacks worked. Yes, in many ways Helen does seem to be the stronger one.

In inland or foreign, man is under the rule of law almost same everywhere, and when there is will, there is a way, nice thematic, plot and climax maturation; well said, well done.

Good for Hellen. I'm so glad she did what she did. And the PInk ribbon, nice touch. It added more humiliation to his beat down. Showed him he's not as tough as he thinks. The chapter is well-written, very interesting. I look forward to finding out what Helen does next.
