Ah, so your grandfather was on the battle in Turkey? How cool you have this bugle to remember him. My husband's grandfather was part of that horrible Lost Battalion in France which they made a movie about. Such a terrible war and so many lives lost!

Thanks lyenochka, yes he was part of that battle, and was never the same again when he came home, so I'm told. Like you said, too many lives lost!

This is an excellent telling of your brave grandfather's experience and the bugle he found. Like many others who return from war, they are never the same as before they went. It is a great tragedy...and also a testament to the lingering horror of war. Your pride in this ancestor comes through strongly and I am so glad you have the priceless bugle reminder that once was in his hands.

Thanks Spangle! I appreciate your review and comments very much indeed. It is a great pity I don't know more about Granddad George, but at least I have the bugle he found. One day, I'll find out more, I'm sure of that!

I am sure if it could speak you would hear the many war torn stories it possesses. I am certain that Grandfather George is smiling down on you.
