The king's death may not be such a bad thing. At least people will be able to eat again, won't be so scared by such a heavy-handed ruler. The chapter is well-written, very interesting, realistic. I bet that was kind of nervewracking for Dylan seeing the different types of dragons. Of course Pink had to show him who's boss, lol. Poor black, I hope he heals soon.

Thanks. I had to get rid of that king before he ate the dragons! Black is healing. The horse nearly killed him, and it wouldn't be realistic for him to heal too fast. Yep, Dylan got a surprise, but he's smart. He'll figure things out.

"after being somewhat floored" - no need for this phrase, you've already shown Dylan's reaction to the dragons.
I admire the way you used this chapter as a natural break in the narrative and therefore as an opportunity to tell Dylan and your readers more about the dragons and their role in the skirmish. Also more hints about the witch and her grandmotherly relationship with the dragons.
Dylan may be an ally but I think Gareth is a weak link.
BTW, Dylan - spelled Dillan, is my grandson's name and Gareth is the name of my elder son.

Thanks. I had no idea about the names. What an amazing coincidence! I don't think Gareth is a bad sort, but like many people, he may not be able to keep his mouth shut if he knows too much. Dylan is aware of it.

Gotcha. Enjoy your weekend Cindy.

A useful recap on each of the dragons for Dylan's sake, which also helps to reinforce their characteristics in the mind of the reader. It sounds as though they are going to have a mainstream role in the defence of the kingdom, but there are enough hints here to suggest that the going won't be easy. Another good chapter.

Thanks. Can't make it easy for them. That would be dull. I thought the recap might help the latecomers.

Wonderful! The dragons' world is widening and Dylan, like Aaron, is developing into a likable character. I like the practical good sense both men show in the face of awkward situations.

Thanks. Yes, the dragons are growing up. Dylan is a smart leader. He'll figure things out.

I just love these little dragons. They're so cute. I like that their color is their name. I feel as if they're my pets, too, in a way. Wouldn't I love to be there with them! I wonder what's going to happen now that the king is dying.

Thanks. These little dragons were so much fun to write. It's going to be hard to wrap this one up. First I have to get rid of that king before he eats them!

I hope it's a good ways from being wrapped up!

Funny that Aaron called the witch "the lady"...she's anything but a lady!
"The king is sick. There are rumors he's dying. He wants you," he told Dylan. "Things are bad. People are hungry, they're angry, and they're blaming him."
Poor king! Bad enough he's sick, but people are angry with him. They need food!

I have to get rid of that king before he eats the dragons! Aaron is being polite. She may be listening. The king deserves his trouble.

Hi Cindy,
I am really enjoying this story, and it look like things are going to get very interesting. I do love those little dragons. I don't have a favourite yet but I'm sure I will. It would be interesting to know a little about the king and why the people are hungry and angry.
Keep up the writing.

Thanks. I guess I didn't drop enough hints about an unwise king. I'll have do do something about that.
