The image that you have chosen to complement your poem is breathtaking. The poem reaches into that storm and brings the swift terror of that to the reader.

The picture reminds me of Mazatlan, and your story is so alive and sweet:"rhythmic winds below" are chaining the coast line everyday. Good luck with the contest.

I love the artwork you choose to go with your poem, they are a perfect match.it Is so sad to see the beauty and power of the sea, and know when it hits land the horror that it will bring.
My prayers go out to all.
Thank you for sharing.

This is a very timely entry since the State of Florida is being threatened by a hurricane that is predicted to react a Category 4. Hearts go out to those living in its path. I am so glad you posted this noteworthy haiku in the contest.

Nature has been acting out of sorts recently and it can lead to terrifying results like you have written about. You did a great job with this one, best of luck

And "Dorian" is the name? What a timely and wonderfully written haiku! Nature poems are most often written about the beauty and serenity surrounding us... I like your spin--hinting of the fury barreling toward Florida in the next few days!--Karenina

Oh! I'd be a nervous wreck if I lived in a place where hurricane season is ever a threat! I hope the whole thing goes out to sea!--Karenina
-
It certainly needs to go out to sea.
-
Oh, the decimated Bahamas! It has been weakening quickly now...If only the entire eastern seaboard could dodge this bullet!--Karenina
-
That would be a blessing.
-
South Carolina's getting hit bad right now...
-
Yea, looks like they're going to take a beating.
-
It eased up some! The poor Bahamas though!--karenina

There's a kind of fatalism to this; we see the course of the storm taken, the coast threatened, and we feel the winds picking up. This is that moment just before impact, when we are left in the uncertainty of what we will be left with. Here we are again, waiting on Dorian. estory

Hello anon, this is a very good entry to the Haiku contest. Well worded with he perfect accompanying picture. Three good lines written true to form and I particularly like line three - 'rhythmic winds bellow' - good use of metaphor. Good Luck - Dorothy

For sure - why do people live in Florida? I ask you. They have t-storms more than any other state - they're in direct line for hurricanes, one after the other. I pray they're all ready.
good poem

A very well-written Haiku and a very scary scene of cloud formation closing in, the best is to lock up everything and find some safe ground where lives will be saved.
