Excellent, brought back some of the old shows I enjoyed so much. Your rhyme is very good, the story is good. A very fun and entertaining read.
You did an excellent job on this entry.

I wanted to give you a heads up. I'm not a poet, so I did not check anything but the number of stanzas. Contest rules say: Write A fun limerick about your favorite card game with A format of FIVE Lines with aabba rhyme scheme.
Instead of a limerick, which always has five lines, you have a poem with multiple 5-line stanzas. there's still time to fix it. good luck.

You've written an excellent series of limericks for the contest
Not bad for a first attempt.
I like the first one the best.
Haven't heard Bret Maverick mentioned in a long time
Well done
Good luck in the contest

Yeah, I'd shoot a cheater too. I suppose Bart will eventually catch up with Bret. But aren't there four aces? Thanks for a fun read. I enjoyed it. Good luck in the contest.

With that prompt the old 999559 anapestic fears are out, and your entry satisfies the prompt, and the stories are clear cut, so, good luck in the contest.

Well done with entry in this five card stud, Limerick contest, usually in the long lines, you had seven syllables, normally they would be 8-10, the shorter lines being six are good, a little off meter, it depends on strong and weak stresses, EG.
Now, there once was a gambler with soul, (9)
Through his forehead there was a big hole (9)
With disgust on their face (6)
While he sharked a third ace (6)
Well, they shot him four times for his roll. (9)
Well done, good luck, blessings, Roy

A very well-written Limerick suite about the card players that crook one way or another to win a game of cards. When they are caught out they will not live long to tell the tale or go in hiding fearing his life.

I think you did a fantastic job of limerick writing. And the topic catches my fancy', as I am an avid poker player. Playing in a tournament tonight in fact. Anyways, I enjoyed the read immensely. Your flow is good, and choice of words too notch. Best of wishes.
