Thanks for sharing this lovely poem, Tony.
I have learned that a glissando is a musical term. I had never heard it before.
I like it when you refer to memories as fragmented figures from the past,
now bereft of sound.

I like the "winding down" of imagery and thought in this poem to a complete change of mood in the last stanza. Like a musical instrument reaching a booming crescendo of silence. For some reason the "NUTCRACKER" musical plays in my head.

Wow, Tony.
This is a very deep poem, emotionally speaking.
Eloquent phraseology and metaphorical references such as "glissandos into pools", as well as "perform a pas-de-deux" make for a delightfully despondent reading experience.
While I enjoyed your poem in its entirety, the final stanza was, by far, my favorite.
Bravo, Sir Fawcus

I enjoyed reading your free verse poem. It flows well. It reminds me of the music I play for my first graders to relax them. Of course, they weren't familiar with Mozart or Back, or Beethoven until they met me. LOL

This is very philosophical write about how nature calms your mind. I like the music and water metaphors. This seems to be about life and death and memories all at once.

Keep writing

I thought this was great. loved the melodies in the language, very pastoral romantic, but also soothing and peaceful, almost melancholy. There is a great sense of all the troubles of the world and life getting washed away by the current of the water, the waterfall, and the clear, pure element of the water comes through too. Loved how you ended it, with that silence, under the shadows, free from the fragmented figurines. estory

Absolutely exquisite! I love how the voicing SOUNDS like what it describes, especially in these lines:

glissandos into pools
where quiet waters swirl,
and leaves stirred by the evening breeze
perform a pas-de-deux.

Fantastic phonetic poetics in all lines....fluid flow. Beautiful imagery and subtle, sensitive and immense AHA in the closing too. Loved reading this aloud, especially all the S-sounds and slant rhymes.

This is atmospheric, masterfully crafted, and one of the best poems I've read here in awhile!

Bravo.

Warmly,
rd

Very nice write, Tony. The poem is well constructed to give a feeling of free and easy thoughts before sleep.

I felt a bit awkward not knowing the meaning ot these words though: "glissandos into pools" and "perform a pas-de-deux."

Good job, my friend. Bob

Very many thanks, Bob. I appreciate your review and affirming comments. I probably should have added a note explaining the musical term 'glissando' and the ballet step, a 'pas-de-deux'. All the best, Tony

If I had a 6, it would be yours. This is so beautiful and peaceful. The musical term worked their magic on this reader's imagination. It is a song in praise of the sounds that I love best. Great job!!
