What a fascinating life you've lived, Lyenochka. (I hope you don't mind that I usually call you 'L' for short.) You were born in S. Korea (thank God it wasn't in the north), but I'm guessing that your family is from Russia.
I think all your life experiences have shaped your intellect and curiosity, which is reflected so beautifully in your writings. Hugs, Lou

Thank you for your kind words, Lou! I am Korean but I majored in Russian. It started with an opportunity to study the language in middle school. Thanks for your kind interest, Hope you'll answer the questions, too! Hugs!

Then it's Elena! I remember you writing Helen once but figured you were just trying to make your name easier for us 'English' folk. I had looked up Lyenochka to see what it meant because I was curious when you said your name was Helen. When I saw all of the derivatives I just stuck with Lyenochka, which I have now learned and have no trouble with... and it's Elena. I'm laughing now because it's such a simple name and one of our friends has a nic-name because she can't say Lyenochka! She says she's sticking with it though... it's her pet name for you! hahaha... giggling here...

Well, I have had lots of names because no one could pronounce my given name. With each language I've studied, I got new names. Lol. Just don't called me Mama, well, unless you want to.
Hugs!

Very interesting. I didn't know about your book, Crossing Barriers. Quite an achievement. You certainly have lived in many different places. You'll have to write your autobiography. I lived in Texas for almost 10 years. It was certainly different from any other placed I'd lived. It was great that you had your home in Oregon for so many years. You must be like me and enjoy staying in one place. It was great to read about your experiences. judi

Thank you, Judi! Yes, I'm mostly a home body and I like to set roots. But sometimes, life moves us. Yes, Texas is another country. Thankful for the people I met there but I didn't like the climate.
Have a marvelous week!

You're welcome. Yes, I like to stay put too. We've been in the same place for several years. judi

Hooray! More about our Professor! ;) :) You know, when I was first drawn to your writings, I looked up Lyenochka just cuz I was curious ... many of your script writes of the neighborhood and such around that little cafe/deli seemed to make a little more sense as to how they seemed so real....still love the way you introduce all the different 'cultural norms' from around the world that many of us will never have a chance to experience! ;) ;) Anyway, enough of the blonde rambling, thanx for sharing, ma'am! ;) ;) Yvette :)

Thanks for participating in this quiz. You answered many questions that I am sure members had about you. My cousin too Russian and did very well in it. She found their alphabet very difficult but in the end was able to lean four languages, French, English (obviously) German, and Spanish. I didn't inherit her genes and can only speak English and that is debatable.

Lol. You are always so self-effacing about your language learning skills. But I'm sure you're doing great in Spanish! Yes, learning the Cyrillic alphabet made it so much easier to read Greek.
Thanks for the review and appreciate what you shared in your answers. Hugs!

Hi, Helen,
Thank you for sharing more information about yourself. I think as we grow as a community, it is so important to be able to put some facts and 'person' behind the monikers and works.

Thanks, Patty. It's a stretch for me to share because we are such a big group and there are always people who read without reviewing. That makes me wonder who knows about us without sharing?
Have a super week!

Thanks so much for sharing. It's good to know more about you. I'd be interested to know whether using a pen name has been good for you. Thank you again.

I can't really say. It was just easier to use a pen name. I was thinking if I ever finish my sci fi book for kids, I'd just use the name my grandchildren call me "Baba" which is "tutu" :))
Appreciate your kind review! Blessings on your week, Stephanie!

Your background story is most interesting, Elena. Thank you for sharing it with us. You have rich experiences to draw on for your writing. No wonder you write such engaging pieces.

Thank you so much for your kind compliments! I hope you'll answer the questions, too. Your writing is fascinating and full of entertainment! Hugs!
-
Do the questions all have to be the same as these ones? I think I have seen some of Earl's Lists that have different questions.
-
Earl's Lists are in his book and Robyn's Questions are part of her book. So you can do either or both. You can answer directly or as creatively as you want - whatever you want to share. Just click on the Add Chapter button at the bottom of any of the chapters.
-
Thanks for the explanation... now I know there are 2 writers involved. Does that mean that Earl and Robyn get the reviews from readers, or does the contributor to their chapter?
-
Oh, no! You get the review count - everyone for their own contribution/chapter. It's just a get-to-know you kind of exercise - fun if there's nothing pressing to post. :))
-
Thanks for clarifying. I'll cobble something together and contribute some time. xx
