Hi Yvette :)
I really enjoyed your short story.
Mikaela is a lovable character...she reminds me of my animal loving, tree climbing daughter, Katie!
I love what you did with the title you chose from the list - unexpected and sweet.
Good luck in the voting booth.
Best wishes, Debra :)

So glad you enjoyed, Debra -- it was one of those that 'popped into' my head when I scanned the list there and really DID NOT have time to write...but I made the time (anything's better than grading papers)! :) ;) Thanx for the review -- have a great week up/over there! ;) ;) Yvette

And the title "Cut the Cord" is perfect title for this writing exercise, my friend. Seems like it may have really happened like this, too. Good story and good writing go hand in hand, eh Yvette? Bless you, Bob

How can a girl or guy cut a cord, Yvette, when nature has life that binds us to it beauty? This shorty is very good. I wonder where you picked this up? It must have been locked up in your memory somewhere. This is a good entry for Pick a title from the list provided contest.

I used to help my dad cut the firewood -- we didn't even run the heat in the winter time...just the big fireplace and electric blankets in the bedrooms! ;) ;) Pretty sure snowflakes today couldn't handle that...LOL! :) Anyway, Dad used to laugh at me when I avoid this tree because of a nest or this stack of felled logs because of the muskrats or the coons...I just saw the listing of titles there and my brain went ... 'light bulb'! ;) ;) The ribbons were an inspiration of my imagination! ;) ;) Take care over there in the big T! ;) ;) Yvette

A very well-written story. It is good to care about the animals in the trees where they live, their only home. On the other hand humans also have to survive and they cannot unless they cut the cord.

Hahaha, nice play on the word "cord" here, Yvette, as in umbilical cord and cord of wood.
So, Mikaela's father loathes texting, 'ey?
I'm with him on that one. I much prefer talking to someone in person or in a telephone call.
Great lil' "tree hugger" story.
I wish you all the best in the contest.

A very original take on the line, cut the cord. I like that Mikaela was more interested in saving the home of the wildlife. The father was a very understanding man.

Thanx for dropping in on this one, Yvonne - really appreciate your dropping in on this prose write! ;) ;) You know, I really didn't have time to do this, but I was scanning that list of topics from which to choose, and this one just said: YEAH - do it! ;) ;) So, this was a teacher's grading 'interlude' - LOL! ;) ;) Take care, sir - have a great week ahead! ;) ;) Yvette

Fun story, Yvette. I thought the dad was going to have a heart attack, glad he didn't. Good luck in this contest.
"The forest looks beautiful, sweetie, but, at this rate, we'll never be able to cut a whole cord!"-- I would delete the comma after but. I don't think it matters much.
Take care,
Russell

Yvette,
I like the way you think. I probably would never have considered 'cut the cord' as a cord of wood. *smile* But I really like that take. Very creative. And especially this take - where they can't even cut the cord. hahah! Thanks!
