Well, maybe I'll come in somewhere in the running. Yvette you wrote a wonderful Valentines poem. You made me smile. You accomplished what I always try to do when I write poetry. Place a smile in one's heart. This is a very good entry for the Valentine Poem contest. :) :)

Oh, Jose, I needed those words of encouragement today...thank you so very much, my friend! :) :) This was certainly the real me on the big V-Day .... never was a hearts-n-roses kindof gal, and this was just what the doctor called for .... smiles and no mush! :) :) Thanx for the wonderful comments and for those shiny stars, sir -- you take care over there! ;) ;) Yvette ;)

Oh this is so true for a lot of couples. I'm glad that it does not relate to you.
You have created some humour here. Nice! I like the rhymes and the conversational flow of this poem. :)

Well done! Love the humor in this. Great photo to start it off. Couldn't help but think of the song by Connie Francis. It flowed well with perfect rhyme. I especially liked " Shot through a quite reluctant heart, this arrow plainly missed it's mark" Great job! Good luck in the contest

Hahahaha! It's true, indeed. Opposites do attract, and funny you should hit on this idea--I think we have a fair bit in common, you and I. (This was my valentine poem idea one year too. LOL) I LOVE yours. Well done! Especially, "...hawk and dove" -- I see it! *Huge smile* Enjoyed very much!

So glad you enjoyed my 'non-romantic' Valentine's Day write -- it was fun trying to be all mushy without the mush - LOL!! ;) :) Take care up there, O Lady of the North! :) ;) Yvette :)

This is a fun Valentine's poem with a great conclusion. I really like how smoothly it flows, especially for an acrostic poem. Finally I like how you have sprinkled near rhymes throughout. Good luck in the contest.

Thanx so much for the Valentimes comments, dude -- and, no, I will not tell her it's annoying....cuz you're supposed to say it's your lovely wife's unique way of looking at the world!! ;) ;) Goodness knows we have more than enough 'mushiness' out there for V-Day....which is a good reason for my write here! ;) ;) You two take care of each other out there and have a great weekend! :) MD

HI Yvette, this reminds me of my mom and dad...they were like night and day from the day they met...he was a poor redneck...and she was from money....everyone said it would last....63 years later they were still laughing...and there were times I would wonder how they ever got married...but I know one thing...if I know anything...they had a true love for each other like know other...sadly Dec.14th...a year and a half ago pop died....he was 89...and mom is 89 now...so you have a long way to go sweet girl...a wonderful journey ahead...I love your poem my sweet friend...and smile at your picture...love you...Linda xxoo

What a sweet and humorous Valentine to remind us that some love matches occur because opposites do attract--hawk/dove. :)
Your title, "Stupid Cupid" brings a sense of humor to your delightful poem! What a great tribute to your husband of thirty years (that's worth celebrating).
