This would have to be written by an Aussie, where else does have such UV information. (I hope Aunt Matilda doesn't read this) beautufully written story poem, the internal rhyme is great, skilful handling off a difficult rhyming discipline, smooth chiseled lines in heptametric quatrains. A great little story, good for Aussie kids, good luck, blessings, Roy

You picked it Roy, but not a surfie babe myself... probably got put off by getting 'dumped' by waves as a child.
Thanks for your nice comments. I am a bit new at poetry so i had to look up what heptametric quatrains are. Thanks for helping me get educated.

Welcome here, I'm a south Aussie, you must be a Vic? My wife lived in Wollongong as a kid, knows the rips and surf. Heptameter is 14 syllable lines (7 metric feet) well done,

Actually I am a Canberra kid, now living in Dunedin, New Zealand, which has a surf beach called St Kilda, (so it doesn't refer to the Melbourne one, though that is obviously the better known one).
Thanks for explaining the syllables and feet.... some of my lines are somewhat irregular.

Not much surf at St .Kilda Victoria heh heh. Have an aunt and uncle living in Queanbeyan.
