This is wonderful, Sandra. I really enjoyed your write. I have no idea which one of the three things was a lie. All of them are pretty interesting. I have to go with #1 though. You can't hitchhike (to my knowledge) from Switzerland to England. Maybe that's when you swam the English Channel? Marilyn

I did hitch hike, it was back in 1968, and I'll write about it and the channel crossing in a short story one day! lol. It had so many good and frightening things happening. I wasn't alone though, a friend had come with me to work in Zurich. I'll tell all later. I'm glad you enjoyed it. My fib was the drowning. I married my brother-in-law. My husband died in 1986, and Graham's wife, (Brian's sister) died four years later. Both from cancer. About five years after that, their father died of cancer, and Graham and I met up at the funeral and got to know each other again. :))
-
That is so interesting Sandra. I hope you do write about it. Marilyn

I think the lie is you married your widowed brother-in-law, but to be honest, I have absolutely no idea. Thank you for filling this out. I enjoyed reading. I like reading these. If it had happened over break, I would have filled it out.

It was just a bit of fun, and I did enjoy it. I'm glad you enjoyed mind. You were right about the answer. I'd been widowed 8 years before Graham was. His wife, was my husband's sister. It was so sad they our in-laws lost both their children. We met up again a few years later at our father in laws funeral. :)) xx

-Interesting answers, Sandra,
so much I didn't know.
-Your answer to #1 explains
some of your imaginative
time travel and Eric's story.
-That was some group when you were 6!
-You are too good of a story teller
so #3. isn't a fair question for you!
-You make them all sound plausible.
I will guess and say b. is false.
-I would never have thought you
were a smoker; I am glad you
aren't anymore.
-What kind of song did you sing?
-Glad to know a little more about
you, my friend.

I've always wanted to go to other planets, and meet aliens. I'd love to be among the stars and see whats out there.
It was 30 years ago that I quit smoking, and I had no problems or side-affects, so I was lucky.
I was the only one who was punished, I was quite upset about that. But, it was such a good lesson. I was sure I'd go to prison! My mother was right taking be back. Six year olds are the nine year olds of today. In fact, I don't think they have as much freedom as we did then.
I sang Petula Clark's 'Up on the Roof' Do you know it? The school I went to recorded me singing and sent it to the talent show. I was so nervous my voice cracked up! There would be no way I could stand on a stage. lol.
That's me! Big hugs, my friend. :)) xxx
-
You mean you haven't met any aliens, yet🙂
Thanks for sharing about the incident. Mothers are usually right, we just don't want to admit it at the time!
I know the song, but I don't remember if it was Petula Clark. I will look it up on you tube.
-
It was, Downtown! The other one I sang in class. :))
-
I thought about that today. I know there was a song "Up on the Roof," but "Downtown" I do know from P. Clark.

This is GREAT! What a unique idea. As for question #3 I'm going to guess C. Not sure why. I should also quit smoking. Getting way to expensive. I'm off to cut and paste LOL.

Hi Sandra, Getting to know you a little bit more I loved the smoking one it made me smile because I also up 32 years ago ' cold turkey' also and have never wanted one since.Strong determimation I think .
I can see you hitchiking and I also did back then it was often the way we would hitch everywhere.
Marrying your brother in law sound feasible also
so I dont think you nearly drowned because I am sure you could probably swim by 10 we were all food swimmers very young we swam in our local lake so (c)
I remember pinching a book when I was about 12-13 a dare from my cousin the 3 of us had to pinch a book from a shop I was never so scared in my life never stole anything again
No talent quests can't sing but have been in quite a few musical plays in the chorus I can sing in a group but never solo LOL
well done for your honesty and I smiled at your answers
Cheers Christine

Hi Christine,
Yes, you were right, C was my fib. I gave up and never missed them, I'd tried so many times, but as the group said to me, you have to want to do it for yourself, not because you're told to.
Thanks so much for reading and getting to know me better, I got to know more about you too!! :)) Sandra xxx

Hi Sandra, this was enjoyable to read. I think C is the false one. I don't know why but the other two ring true. How unfair. I quit from 40 a day from one day to the other. I never told anybody, but a few days later Tommy asked me whether I didn't feel well as he hadn't seen me smoking for a while. But nobody else interviewed me. Hmm! Great answers, Sandra. I enjoy this. Hugs. Ullaxxx

Yes, it is. This is fun quiz isn't it? Did you manage to kick the habit of smoking? I know it's hard unless you really, really want to do it. Thanks for reading, my friend. Big hugs. :)) Sandra xx
Comment from Phyllis Stewart
Wow, you were really a little terror, joining a gang and stealing because they told you to.
Bravo for giving up smoking, all at once, no less!
a.) When I was 20 years old, I hitch hiked home to England from Switzerland. <-- Dangerous, if you were alone. Even with others. I don't think you were ever that foolish, so I'm guessing this is the lie.
b.) I married my widowed brother-in-law <-- Entirely possible, but I'd like to know HOW he was bro-in-law to you: hubby's brother? sister's husband?
c.) When I was ten years old, I fell into the river. I couldn't swim. I was pulled out after a while but I'd drowned. I was resuscitated by the man who pulled me out. <-- I think this is true, for who would invent such a frightening story, something I don't even like to think about. Maybe you would, though, because you once killed a boy stuck in a chimney. (I don't forget such things.)

LOL!! I'm afraid you were wrong Phyllis, I didn't nearly drown, but I couldn't think of another thing to put down. Here's the story about Graham.
My husband Brian died when he was 46 and I was 39, I was left with my two young sons fortunately. Brian died of cancer. It was a four years later Brian's sister died of cancer too. You can't begin to imagine what it was like for my in-laws losing both their children. I lost touch with Graham, I didn't really think that much about him, he got on with his life as I had done. Then after a few more years had passed Brian and Patricia's father died of cancer. It was at his funeral I met up with Graham again, and we started chatting, then things went from there. It took a while before it came to anything. He was good friends with my sons, and it just happened..Everyone on both sides were really happy for both of us. Life can have funny twists and turns in it. :))
You still remember the Chimney Sweep Boy?? LOL I remember your review!! Ouch!! xxx

I enjoyed learning more of your life, Sandra. You did a good job with the quiz. That was a good lesson to learn about stealing. Your 'lies' are hard to pick out which are true/not true. I believe choice 'a' is the lie. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thank you, Jan. I was totally scared out of my life when my mother marched me into see the manager. I never did that again! I was a bit put out that my friends weren't punished.
I'm afraid you were wrong, Jan, I did hitch hike back from Switzerland with my friend, we both hated our jobs in Zurich and left after we'd been there 6 months.
Actually, I did marry my brother-in-law. My husband died when he was 46 and I was 39, I had two young sons. Brian died of cancer. It was a four years later Brian's sister died of cancer too. Graham went his own way after that, trying to come to terms with his loss. Then after a few more years had passed Brian's father died of cancer. It was then I met up with Graham again, he came to Dad's (our father-in-law) funeral and we started chatting, then things went from there. It took a long while, but we're very happy now. Thanks Jan, for reading my bit about me. :)) xx

This was so enjoyable to read Sandra, it is creative of Robyn to come up with such ideas and they do rather well. I enjoyed reading your answers, I think everyone was either directed to or challenge to pinch something when they were young. In regards to question three, you posted some interesting potentials but I think it is 'A'. super enjoyable, hugs and smiles.

Those porky pies. I think the lie is 'b'. I rather doubt that you married your widowed brother in law. It isn't illegal or immoral but it would be unusual. Many twenty year olds hitch hiked across Europe it was safer back then, and most people that need resuscitated are resuscitated by the one that pulls them out.
Well done on the giving up smoking thing. I did much the same except that I used to smoke a pipe rather than cigarettes and it is not supposed to be addictive.
Now these days your mother would have gone round to the shop and delivered a lecture to the manager on his lack of security in leaving desirable things lying around for kids to steal.
As for the alien encounter. It hasn't happened yet - we haven't met.
Talent contest unplaced? Just be grateful you weren't groped.

I love the alien bit, lol, and I agree with you, the shop would have been in the wrong. I was frightened to death when my mum marched me into the shop. I really thought I'd go to prison. I think my mother did the only thing she could to punish me and teach me a good lesson, I never did it again. I had a ball hitch hiking, there was only two of us, we went to work in Switzerland and we did stick it for 6 months. We just didn't realise they were going to fine us for breaking our contracts.
Actually, I did marry my brother-in-law. My husband died when he was 46 and I was 39, I had two young sons. Brian died of cancer. It was a four years later Brian's sister died of cancer too. It was terrible time for my in-laws. Then after a few more years had passed their father died of cancer. It was at the funeral I met up with Graham again, and we started chatting, things went from there, it took quite a while though, I hadn't any intention of remarrying. Everyone on both sides were really happy for both of us. Life can have funny twists and turns in it. :))
Thanks for the lovely review, my friend. Big hugs. :)) Sandra xx

You know, I went and looked up the table of kindred and affinity in the prayer book, the first line of which always intrigued me - 'A man may not marry his grandmother!' - By the time I was old enough to read that my gran was long dead so it never made much sense to me. Sorry I got it wrong.
-
Oh, nothing to be sorry about, Jim. It was funny, but when my sister-in-law was alive, Graham was nothing more than my own brother was. It was a long time after we were both widowed. He was going through what I'd gone through, and it takes a long time to get through it, especially as we both had children to bring up. They all get along fine. xxx
-
I am happy for you.
-
Thanks, Jim. xx
