Such profound thoughts expressed in such a short poem. Great advice for parents. All the blood, sweat and tears will be worth it when we see the positive results of our efforts. Thanks for sharing.

Thanx so very much for your positive comments, June -- and I guess as I see my 'little' boys more and more as the grown men that they are, I tend to get nostalgic and thankful that my husband and I poured so much into their lives when they were younger! :) Nothin's perfect, but nothin' ever is -- but the underpinnings are there!! :) ;) Merry Christmas Wishes! :) ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette. I hope this finds you happy and healthy. Happy Holidays! This looks like a good entry for the contest. I never had what you portray here. Nor did my brothers. My dad did not build. He was a well known mathematician. With him, everything was intellectual. But I imagine to a tiny tot, time with Daddy making thinks is prescious. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

Thank you so very much for your wonderful comments, Pam -- you always manage to put a smile on my face with your reviews...a special Holiday thank you for that! :) My dad was a physicist so I know EXACTLY where you're coming from...a lot of my time with dad was spent on 'expanding' what I learned in school and working on science projects!! :) ;) But there was always SO MUCH more with my boys!! :) And, as I see those 'little' boys more and more as the grown men that they are, I tend to get nostalgic an thankful that my husband and I poured so much into their lives when they were younger! :) Nothin's perfect, but nothin' ever is -- but the underpinnings are there!! :) ;) Merry Christmas Wishes! :) ;) Yvette

This is an excellent lune! I've never heard the phrase fit the message, as well as this, does. The image from Care.com suits, and illustrates the point, very well. The man with the child building something out of wood is charming. Their yellow hard hats and matching colored clothes add to the sweetness of the poem. Every word that you use counts and makes a lasting impression. Well written and philosophical.
Take care, Jesse

    Hi Yvette
Your grown children are lucky that you 'poured so much into their lives when they were younger!' You and your husband have a right to feel proud of the 'underpinnings' you gave them. Have a happy Christmas and a merry New Year!

That subtitle sounds a hair bitter. Some people are the first in their clan to die, and don't have this problem. Kinda like saying getting old is awful, but the alternative--a wise lune, and if memory serves, correct. Excellent.

A seemingly simple statement that is very significant. It's a nicely constructed Lune that conveys its message well. Good luck with the contest.

Parents should be proud of themselves when they give full time to educate their children. That picture and the poem is amazing. Terry

Yvette, good luck in the Lune Poetry Contest. You provided such immense wisdom in those few words and it was a priceless picture you chose. Any picture that shows a parent taking the time to not only spend time but to show a child something is priceless to me.

This lune poem, Foundational Strength, looks good and ties in with the graphic of actual pop and kid construction. Nice memories of learning from Dad.

That is so true, and what a lovely photo to accompany your Lune poem. When you get into your autumn-winter years, that's what we have to put the smile on our faces, those priceless memories. Superb contest entry. Good luck! :) Sandra xxx
