This is a free verse contest entry Richmond theme and imagery flowed well read well with no grammar issues as well injective an object two continents were both excellent exceptional while descriptive measures aligned perfectly this brings back bad memories I lost my wife name Carolyn 16 years ago only eight months after our son was killed in the car accident she committed suicide

A friend left without saying anything.
Is something wrong in Denmark?
This is a good opening that sets the tone of the verse
And this one filled in the fine print.
In a word, it says she's gone
The books of the voracious reader
Stacked between puzzle boxes
And picture albums were teetering on the floor.
The lovely colored pictures and
I liked the poem and made me remember some melancholy moments when I made decisions to leave somewhere and just left.
Maybe that's what you set up to do in we readers.

I really enjoyed reading your poem, even though it was written about a sad subject. You brought to mind images to which I can relate. At the end of the poem,where you described her room, I could almost see the stacks of belongings there, and feel the sting of her absence. I wish you luck in the contest, though you may not need much of it. This is a special poem!

So sorry for your loss. Grief is an emotion that is often better expressed in poetry, as you do so well here. Some of the phrases you use hint at this perhaps being a suicide? I hope not , if only because that seems to intensify and complicate the grief of the survivors.
You paint a wonderful picture of your friend (I'm not sure I have ever met a voracious reader that wasn't also a good person). And your last lines beautifully express the experience that our loved ones, when they pass, take up residence in our memories. Lovely.
