There's no way to rate beauty. We simply enjoy it and are thankful for it. At least, these butterflies have no idea of a longer life. Just the way it is.
A very impacting poem, thought-provoking. Good luck in the contest.

A very well-written three line poem about the beautiful butterfly that lifespan is so very short that when we see them once, it is not guaranteed to see the same one again.

Your poem flows, and brings an observation to the reader, with meaning. Exactly what poetry should do. Not preach. I read it over a few times, to get the full impact of your poem. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

Hello June
A lovely piece this. The whole idea of beauty beyond measure is so true. Somethings defy words, or accounting.
I read a very interesting book about butterfly many years ago ("An obsession with butterflies" by Sharman Apt Russell) and they live a rather vicious life, for all their beauty.
But, why not concentrate on their beauty - the wonder and the colour: your piece does just that and regardless of how it does in the contest, it is a well-worded an thoughtful piece.
I wish you well with your writing.
cheers

Hi June. This seems like a good entry for the contest. I love butterflies. Their numbers have declined by 90%. A cool fact. Each year there are four generations of bullerflies. The first three live mere weeks. But that fourth generation lives nine months to a year. They migrate south and back and create the first generation of the new year. Amazing. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

Good title and irresistible photo to emphasize your message.
Truly, there are times when we are left speechless and can only stare in awe at nature's beauty.
