Six little words that ask such a deep philosophical/scientific question. Will we every know the answer. The does make you want to use these words as a definition for the title.
Good luck and keep writing

I think the evidence leans a bit more one way than the other, Joan. Many thanks for the kind review :) Craig

I hope you're saying it's leaning towards the former and not the latter. My pleasure, Craig

Hey Craig, I'd like to thank you for inspiring my entry into the six word poem contest. I wrote a poem in response to this one. Please read it, if you could.

Hi, Craig,
Ah, yes. I definitely think we are parasites to the earth. After all, we are plundering her for everything she has to give - and there are only finite resources.
Great use of your six words to make a point. Good luck to you in the contest,
~patty~

Wonderful six-word poem, Craig. Everything about this is just brilliant - the very poignant message you share; the way you have spread your words across lines; the balance in the syllable structure; the colours and the formatting. Good luck in the contest.

Hi, Craig.
I read through this short six word poem. Strong presentation and potent sentiment for thought. One word represents a vague look at all people, and then on a mass and individual scale, you have to ask yourself. Are you a giver, or a taker?
On a mass scale in relation to the world, the answer is clear.
On a different scale, and level of potential, it doesn't have to be. Awareness and adaption are an option.
Nice job with this.

How very true, Turtle. We can't undo the damage of the past, and possibly may not even be able to save the future, but we can minimise the destruction in the present, if we choose. Many thanks for your most kind rating and words, and your thoughtful interpretation. Craig

I think we are definitely the latter here, my friend. We won't be happy until we've raped and pillaged the earth of every living and dead thing and even a few bits and pieces that are nailed or bolted down LOL
I think earth has been its most beautiful long before we came along to fuck the whole show.
LOVED.
You are SUCH a talented parasite haha

Thanks, P, for the sobering comments (with which I wholeheartedly agree), and the humorous ones as well (which I definitely needed). Also, thanks for the wonderful, shiny stars. Now when am I going to see one of your wonderful creations? It seems a while, have I been missing posts? Most grateful, Craig
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
A very well-written six-word poem. To make someone else or a pet to suffer a painful death, in my opinion, is inhumane. It doesn't matter how much you love your pet, it is selfish to let him live in pain, instead of letting it go to stop the suffering.

Comment from Gloria ....
This is awfully cute, at least with that little fish in the picture, well and the entire presentation actually.
Is it too much to ask for both? lol. Excellent work and best of luck to you in the contest with this most intelligent entry.

Excellent thought-provoking six-word poem, Craig. You bring attention to "creation" which brings to mind that humankind was told to care for creation. We are failing that call if we are parasitic.

Six stars for the six word winner. I should not say this because my vote has been the kiss of death lately. I can't help it though. This is insightful.

Don't be concerned about "jinxing" me, Debbie. I've heard the phrase "sure-fire winner" often enough with no result not to get my hopes up lol But I do sincerely appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad you appreciate it :) Cheers, Craig

Excellent! Very relevant. Very effective. Once, Amma was scolding me for some mistake and she said, " I don't know if you're a flower or a weed."! This reminds me of that. We have to make choices to bloom positive evolution for our planet. Great title.
I love the alliteraiton of P and the synchronized two-word lines--gives a rhythm to this short poem. Well done!
Warmly, rd

Well, Amma is not as unkind as some, RD. I've been designated, more than once, as the fertiliser (and I don't think it was in reference to inducing growth) :)
Thanks for the lovely review -- Craig

Hee hee -She would never say that to a 'devotee'...only to a 'disciple', in which case it is utter kindness (in disguise) because it's her job to improve my character!
And I welcome it...
Love and light,
