Dear Anonymous Poet;
Thank you for sharing this ambitious poetic form. You told a tale of service and sacrifice with the use of multiple five-seven-fives.
Good luck in the contest,
patty

Hello friend, I thank you for sharing this poignant and telling tale of your uncle, Sgt. William A. Kenel; your love/affection for him is beautifully reflected in this emotional series of 5/7/5s; good luck to you in the contest.

This is a beautiful tribute to our soldiers. So very sorry for your loss, and such a tragic death, such a horrible death, my heart goes out to you. Thank you so very for sharing this and have a blessed day.

What a heart-rending story, and told so well in free verse. He was so young. Never did he imagine when he enlisted that his life would end this way.
You've written a lovely tribute to him and all the men in the hull of that hell ship. I'm so sorry for your family, and especially for your father.

Thank you for giving me a face on Memorial Day. What a brave fine young man. And to suffer such cruelty.
Lest we forget...never let us

Well, you went "all out" with this 5-7-5 suite of patriotic poetic fare, Anonymous Poet.
But, hey, if you're going to do something you might as well do it BIG.
Many, many good poems here.
May God continue to protect our men and women in uniform who place their lives on the line for the freedoms we enjoy every day.
Best wishes to you in the contest.

Good Morning, Dean,
As the years go by, fewer people remember the tragedies of so many wars... When I think of how young my uncle was, and the suffering and anguish he experienced during his captivity, along with the hundreds - thousands of other Japanese POWs, my heart still aches...Yet, if my family held any bitterness toward the Japanese afterwards, it was never made evident to me...
Thank you for stopping by. Glad to know you are feeling better!

In my opinion, a stunning, emotional tribute honoring a hero and the heroic men who served and suffered in this action. This moved me to tears and an enormous sense of gratitude toward all those who served, those who tragically died and the families' who suffered their unrelenting loss. This work is smoothly written in its dramatic form and appears in perfect compliance with the prompt. Best of luck in the contest...

You are indeed very welcome, and I am relieved to say my brother returned from Viet Nam unscathed physically, but he did suffer emotional trauma. I do not think any soldier returns without some measure of injury...Eve

I salute you and your precious uncle. This story is sad and war is
abusive. They were chained and tormented like hell. I'm sure he
is smiling and dining with Jesus. Stars for you both. God bless.
Keep the story alive. flylikeaneagle

I don't have much to say...I am crying....just so very, very touching. It appears there is never-ever any end . My young grandson 3 times to Afghanistan. I don't listen to news or read newspapers, live one day at a time, I can't spend the rest of my life in tears when there is nothing I can do about improving life for everyone. Immature my sister says and I say 'Thank You Father for a day without tears. You honor your Uncle and I applaud for it ...Dinah

This is a touching tribute to your uncle and all the other soldiers who lost their lives defending our country. I never knew about this piece of history until your poem, now I'm interested in learning more. My dad served during WW2, I thought him a hero all my life. Thanks for sharing.
