I really admire poets who can put in a lot of message in so few words like what you did here int is poem. The author also followed the rules and requirements for writing a 1/6/1 poetry. Very well done.

Been there; done that.
You are so correct Alzheimer's in insidious.
Better diagnostic tools are on the way, with more psychological wisdom.
Thanks for sharing.

Well said! Great 1-6-1 poem. I just think it is amazing how much can be said with this tiny little form. It takes talent and thought to make it work. I've lost several people to Alzheimer's, and worry I may in the process of losing another. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, this short poem alone explains why you are this month's recognized writer. I am in awe that you managed to capture a heart wrenching subject with minimal words.
I read many poems on this ugly disease, but this is the first time that I saw the disease referred as a thief. In essence, it is a thief. It steals history, memories, and happiness of loved ones.
Amazingly, you managed to capture these stolen moments with few words and a rhymes. Wow!
Congratulations, Recognized Writer.

Hello Poetic Friend,
I am so honored that you stopped by and read my work.
Thank you for your excellent rating and complimentary review.
My mother suffered for over a decade with dementia. Never diagnosed as Alzheimer's, but I watched with heartbreak as this insidious disease took her away from me in "bits and pieces" along with her other challenges...
Thank you again!

excellent 1-6-1 poem. it is hard to put into words the anguish one feels
when one has to witness a loved one in the throes of this condition.
you got very close.

Hello meeshu,
I lived through my mother's dementia for nearly a decade. Not as severe as Alzheimer's but nearly as devastating. To witness this once vibrant and creative individual who I loved with all my heart disintegrate into a "shadow of her former self" was truly heartbreaking...
Thank you for your excellent rating and review...

This will probably win and should win because it is such an important topic and so cleverly worded bringing it therefore to wider attention. All forms of dementia are devastating. I am very impressed with this good luck in the competition kindest regards Meia x

Hello Meia,
You are correct when you write that "All forms of dementia are devastating." My mother's certainly was. She suffered for nearly a decade along with many other challenges at the end of her life. We lost her in "bits and pieces."
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review...

A very well-written 1-6-1 poem. Alzheimer's is the biggest thief that steal our thoughts and memories without us knowing it and cause us many grief in our later years.

This 1-6-1, Crime in Bits and Pieces, uses the eight syllables and uni-rhyme lines to define in accusation the "long good bye" that fades the mind slowly out of usefulness until everyone's a stranger and then everything is beyond recall. So sad.
