Gosh, for any of us that have gone through hard times in our relationships and built that roof, how much better it was. And how poignant the last verse. From experience I know that it need not be after death, but how sad if that's the case. Excellent poem. I'm giving six because this struck a chord with me.

I am pleased to be able to strike that chord. Thank you so very much for the generous six stars!

Interesting art, and a concept that appears in many marriages and such. Can't fix the roof when it's raining and when it's not raining it doesn't leak...fivers

This poem speaks volumes about the challenges of maintaining a relationship that has undergone its share of ups and downs. Throughout the episodes, something emerges that is clear to the observant, these two people are not going anywhere, they are in it for the long haul. The husband, like so many, is willing to endure the wife's complaints and criticisms because he loves her and would not leave her no matter what. This poem reminds me of so many relationships I have observed from the outside and it even resembles my own in many ways. I dub this a masterpiece.

I consider it to be that good. I do not award six stars very often. I am probably harder to please than most, but when I award six stars I want them to mean something more.

I'm sorry to be out of sixes for this wonderful poem as it truly deserves hundreds of stars :) I enjoyed your captivating story poem about relationships and working together. I'm a rhyme and meter lover, so found your rhymes to be a key ingredient to provide grounding. I'm thinking this should be a Poem of the Month nominee just for content alone. Well done, and thank you for this incredible experience-it style poem.

I enjoyed this rhyming read with its overtones of humour almost but not quite masking the message lying underneath. Unfortunately we get pinned down by a welter of annoying little tasks that deny us the time to deal with the things that really matter.

This uses fixing the roof as a metaphor for fixing life's problems. There is more than one kind of storm. I like the ending that says love helps you get through these storms and if you remember the love the problems won't seem to bad. This poem shows how much this person loves and protects the one he/she loves.

Wow! I wish I had six stars for you. This is both moving and beautiful. I love the story your poem tells. And what you say is so true. Sometimes we complain about silly things instead of acting.
Your last verse almost made me cry.
Thanks.

Oh yes, this is a most important philosophical statement, clockwise. Let's just get the practical things taken care of first, the things we can do and then worry about the rest of it later.
Excellent poem.

Every single word wraps around your theme,
Waking up in fright
Clinging to the dream....
Meter marches crisply,
Verses circle back...
Eyes on what you have or hope
Never what you lack
Felt your pulse and heart
Beating from your chest
Knowing you will part
Clinging to the rest....
