I love the picture you've put with your clever 5-7-5 poem, Bill. I didn't know there are different kinds of cockroach. I know I don't like the English ones. I'll have to Google them and find out how many types there are. Well done, my friend, I have learnt something else today. :) Sandra x

Comment from Thomas Bowling
Florida is full of cockroaches. If you see one there are thousands in the house yo don't see. After you get an infestation, they are hard to get rid of. The best way is to poison the ones you see and then leave it instead of scooping it up. Roaches are cannibals. The others will eat the dead one and carry the poison back to the nest. In a couple of days, no more roaches.

I watched them burn an old house in Florida, rather than demolish it, because of roaches.

Hi, Bill;
Such a fancy word for the cockroach. Wonderful five-seven-five with single words for the first and third lines. I also like the artwork you chose to go with the piece.

The work is an exposition that entails an interplay of the literal and generic names of a cockroach.
The work highlights the fact that there is not just one type of cockroach and refers to the one mentioned Periplaneta Americana.
Excellent work! Keep the flag flying!

Periplaneta is such a pretty name for such an ugly insect. I wish it wasn't Americana. It would be a better world without them. Though I have read that they are the only living thing that can live through a nuclear attack.

You can cut their heads off and they will remain alive. They only die because their mouths are gone and can?t eat. The basic premise of the zombie.

How scary. The world run by zombie cockroaches.
