Aww, I love it! I was an All My Children fan too, and I loved writing. Alas, I'm still no professional! Never been paid, not even a quarter. :-)
Patty, this was a sweet memory.
Thank you for sharing.

Hello, Patty: What a precious true children's story. You were so cute and smart and it must have bees so special to be the youngest in the neighborhood. Is this what started your zeal to write?
I enjoyed this story and of course, it is another well-written story. It is also very interesting and kept my attention.

Hi, Tier;
It is so nice to have a memory from my childhood that is sweet and innocent. I've vowed to remember these kinds of things and turn away from the tragic memories,

What a lovely story Patty, and what a wise and gentleman was your dad. My little granddaughter (only six) shows some extraordinary talent in storytelling ability and drawing, I wonder if we can put her to work? Mmmh. I think Dot was a wonderfully wise and generous woman Patty, people like that are an asset to our neighbourhood. Well done, excellent work, blessings, Roy

Hi, Roy;
My dad didn't get a chance to do much for me. He left us to go to jail when I wasn't quite nine years old, and then he was back for a while, but it was a horrible time. However, he did teach me a few things, and I'm thankful I actually knew him and have some good memories to treasure.
Go ahead and put your granddaughter to work -- it will be good for her.
Yes, I was very fortunate to have Dot in my life. She and a few other neighbors made my childhood a pleasant memory,

I'll do that.

LOL! How cuuute! You had them all wrapped around your little finger, didn't you? LOL! I can't imagine selling a book like that. You had gumption, that's for sure. And you got top price, too. Have you sold any books since? :)

Hi, Phyllis;
Thank you for the R&R of this little story. Yes, I have sold two other books. 'The Waiting Room' and 'One Man's Journey' are both with the publisher now. Maybe they will be out in the fall???

Aw such a sweet story Patty. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could return to those days when everything was so easy.
We could be anything we wanted to be and our imaginations were fertile.
Loved this one

Hi, Freda;
Thank you so much for the R&R of this piece. I did write when I was a child, but since I hadn't really lived or experienced anything, those stories were cute but didn't have much substance.

That's awesome! I would have loved to be a "professional writer" at seven years old! I mean, probably not back then...I have no idea what I wanted to be then, but just the thought of it now. I think I was ten when I decided I wanted to be a writer. Excellent writing!

Hi, Natali;
Yes, I knew I wanted to be a writer at a very young age. Everyone always told me I had a very vivid imagination. Short stories were given as gifts and written for special people and I excelled in my grade school and high school English classes. I didn't start writing a book until around 2005 when I was well into my forties.
I don't know what I would do without writing at this point,

That was delightful, Patty, what we do as children would make a fantastic book anyway! I expect that was the beginning of an amazing writing career and being paid at the age of 7 makes you the most professional writer on FS!! :) Sandra xx

Hi, Jan;
Thank you so much for the R&R. Yes, I was very small for my age, too. I think I was using the paper bag as my first brief case. LOL.

Hi, Barb;
Thank you so much for the R&R. To be perfectly honest with you, I can't remember a time when I didn't write. I have been much more serious since about 2005 when I decided I wanted to be published. I started putting together my personal memoirs for my children, and the beginnings of 'The Waiting Room.'
While I was finishing my MBA and then my law degree, I didn't have much time for writing fiction, but my pen was busy with papers and essays. You have no idea how freeing the past four years have been for me; I hated writing boring stuff!
