I get the beat of Iambic pentameter, I've just never been able to write it. Fun poem to remind us of the importance of Iambic pentameter and what the world would be missing without it. Nice work with this challenge.

I really struggle with it and have to check the dictionary almost every word. Thanks for the awesome comments!

I thought you did a great job with this writing type. Sounds like a fun club. The rhyme is natural. The flow of your poem is wonderful. And looking it over you nailed this poetry type.

Don't worry. We all have something we struggle with. Iambic pentameter's not so bad once you get the hang of it, and you will.

'clanging pan and spoon' reminds me of games I played with my children.

    Hi Yvonne -

Everyone makes such a big deal about iambic meter. For whatever reason I don't have a natural ear for it. I have to use a dictionary and even then it isn't always right.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Wonderfully said, Kim! Loved that you captured what every poet struggles with to make their meter more smooth! I especially liked the humor in:

"lamenting that my tongue has two left feet. "

Great questions and things to think about! And a great reassurance that probably the Bard struggled with the same. Great job in meeting that challenge!

    Hi Helen -

I really do still cringe when I hear the words "iambic pentameter." It used to be that I just would avoid that challenge. For most people I guess it is an instinctive thing, not for me lol Thank you for the wonderful comments. I'm glad you enjoyed this one!

Hi Kim. I enjoyed your poem on iambic pentameter. It is a tough thing for most of us to grasp and to be consistent with. Your poem is well composed for the benefit of all. Marilyn

    Hi Marilyn -

For so long I have cringed every time I hear those two words lol I joined Pantygynt's meter club because I know I could stand to improve my meter and iambic pentameter has long been a challenge for me. I generally have to use a dictionary to pull it off - and then I'm still not positive. I guess it is because I just make the adjustment when I read and if it sounds good to me, then all is well lol If I had a nickel for every time someone said my meter was off I could pay for my subscription here, many times over! lol Thanks for the great comments.
