Thanks! Love the positive review. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

It reads for the most part as a fun sort of poem. It was well written and original. I was caught by surprise by the ending.
I would rate it perfect if the ending were a bit different.
Good work on the most part.

Thanks. Glad you found it fun. I considered a different ending for that whale, but I thought it might be in poor taste. What kind of ending would you have liked?

Maybe have the whale eat plankton or spout water on something in the ocean

This is fabulous. I expected something dour and serious, but you've created a tale of whale that works without fail. This is part children's cautionary tale and part political satire. It works on the same level as the writings of Dr. Seuss, Lewis Carroll, and David Sedaris (strange bedfellows)--there is something very deep and more complicated beneath the happy simplicity. So glad I checked in tonight. Thanks for making my day with this magical work. Bravo!

Thanks! I've taken some flack with this one, and it's wonderful when someone appreciates it. I tried to keep it light and funny, but not everyone saw it that way. Thanks again for the six!

Even a novice will notice that your words poke fun at Donald Trump and his policies on Immigration. You also comment on his ego, and how he seems to lash out at any person who disagrees with him. Did I leave anything out? The rhyme scheme is steady and the read is smooth. Very good job.

Yep, I admit I was having a bit of fun with the Donald. He seems to have an issue with our dairy cows too. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the six!

I think this is a "whale" of a story poem, which grabs the imagination and takes a good run with it. I'm not certain if young lives would understand it. But never less, the rhyming, the articulate narrative, and clever theme and confident presentation, well done, blessings, Roy

Thanks. This one is for the grownups. I've found that kids tend to take things literally and don't get satire very well. Glad you enjoyed it.

Most welcome Cindy

Your title certainly caught my attention! Your satirical quatrains are quite effective, and I admired your end and internal rhymes. I'm with "the oceans and the seas" and wish you good luck in Canada--we're all going to need it over the next four years! Also, congratulations on your "Frog" poem win. Cheers- Joan

Thanks. Yep, I think the whole world is going to need all the luck it can get. Glad you got a kick out of my poem.

A fine (and fictionally-true!) poem. Ha--this seems plenty brave (and funny) to me, Cindy, and 40 reviews, wow--If I get 3, I'm feeling pretty good, and the ones who didn't like it, are delusional Kool-Aid drinkers!

Thanks. Most people took it in the spirit it was intended. Unfortunately it offended a few. Glad you enjoyed it.

Amazing commentary. I just heard about Canada myself. I don't remember how isolationism worked in the past for us, but...today...who knows? anyway, well written and well rhymed and I would recommend it.

I actually took the poem seriously.
-
I was really surprised how many people did. I'm afraid I even offended a few. That was not my intention.

I appreciated this and also wish I would have had a six left!!!!! Only had fives to give! Thanks again, Theresa.

It is perfect match.
I love the clever way you got your message across. This is what I call a food for thought poem.... meaning after you read it you go mm.

Well that was a very interesting poem of tale of a whale. All whales or any animal for that matter don't like to be blocked up. Working together is best, but not always do able.
Thanks for sharing

Yeah, I think a wall will create more problems than it solves. Good thing whales have better sense. LOL Glad you enjoyed.
