I've been to the top of Haleakala and so I know how steep it is. We watched a bicyclist ride UP it! Talked to him at the top.
So the incident in San Diego should tell you something - don't drink and ride:)
Why a banana seat bike and not a regular one (I didn't read the 1st one, sorry)?
I would think you'd be going faster than 15 mph downhill. I can go 15 mph on flat land. Down steep hills, I have to break to keep under 30.
Hope I catch the next part.

I couldn't even make it up the slight rise in San Diego, let alone a volcano! You have a point on the mph, I got that from the write up the cycling company used in their advertisment. No way would I go on a bike ride like that. First off, my training wheels do not make hairpin turns. As for doing things with the risk of death attached, I like to stick to medical interventions, like medically necessary surgeries. Death-defying sunrises? Uh-uh.
Just love this story. Your voice and Brunhilda's reactions put together are chuckle worthy when the story is mundane. This is not at all mundane, so I can't wait to see what she says to you at the end of it all.

This will be fun. I had a bad bike accident when I was 14. I was riding a borrowed bike down a hill when I suddenly realized I didn't have brakes. I got up to about 16 or 17 miles per hour, and then hit the side of the road. Thrown from the bike, I hit a brick wall with my head, flew over it and slid on my arm for about 10 feet. It was a horrible experience and I still bear the scars.
I can only fear your experience will be even worse! Your prose flow well, and the piece certainly holds the reader's attention. Thanks for sharing,

I loved reading your review. The Cuties couple were wonderful, I am pleased to report. Down to earth and shared they were moving their operation to Columbia (or Brazil) I believe, because California was killing their operating bottom line with restrictions and water to save some little fish that was driving farmers out of business. I was an interesting conversation for sure, and one I had followed on Dateline previous to meeting them.
I was so honored by your Barry-esque comment. I should read up on the gent. I'm embarrased to say I have not read him and initially thought you were speaking of the guy on the radio who talks about money matters. LOL. I need to get out more, obviously ;D
