On eof yours I had not commented on, Dip. Great write, and especially good to see you in POM. Wishing you the best there, certainly deserves its place.

It is beautiful that you saw all this in that lovely picture. You here demonstrate how an observant poet can expand a memorable moment into a lifetime whose story will tug at the hearts of many ever after.
So when it's time our days have passed
And we leave this life we'll miss
I'll take your hand, right to the last
And give you one last kiss
Simply superb, my friend.

Thankyou so much WalkerMan for picking up on those two things. I did forget to change the title to one last kiss in the text
and I agree with removing 'which'/
thank you again

You are welcome, my friend. I see the changes and have removed the comments about them from the review. It's a splendid poem. -- Mike

Dip, this is remarkably touching and do well expressed. Your rhyme and meter is spot on, and the story you've created makes me wish this scene could replay in nursing homes everywhere.

Thankyou so much Mary, greatly appreciated as always. To find lost love after so many years would be beautiful indeed it's just they would not have those years left together to enjoy it.

I didn't hesitate. This is exceptional and one of
your best, Dip. You tell a wonderful story of the
power of love. I hope you will let me send this

My sixes renewed for the week, D. Here's the one I promised you yesterday. It is a rather sad story of a connection that was broken and didn't reconnect until the last days.

Awesome Dip! I LOVE the emotional content of this. It is wonderful.. So many write of young love but so few of enduring love and of aging, when sure, we forget, but the important fundamentals are there, regardless of looks or time's ravages. I am glad you rediscovered this! Sorry I have been so absent, lately, have had heaps on my plate, including buying a house for our son to live in now, and us to eventually retire to on the north island.
:)
ps the sonnet anthology is just a collection of sonnets I have posted at one time or another, sewn up in a book. i had to do them as book chapters if I wanted to submit for another seal of quality. If ou want to take a peek, it should be in my portfolio somewhere. Thansnks,BTW for your lovely review of my latest political sonnet. Bye for now,
Hayley

Okay Doc... this is the follow on from the last poem... you didn't kill her, did you? But now I'm thinking 'bout it... what did you wife die of... or should that be from... huh, used the old 'I've lost my mind, don't remember tactic'?
Okay, since you wrote this one a while back, I'm not going to drive you berko with the meter thing... the sentiment wrapped up in the story of it all, way made up for any of the 'sweating the small stuff'... so yes, enjoyed the lovely cuteness factor in the story of and this apparently, short lived poem... smile)))))))))))))))!
With our thoughts we create,
the right place 'n the right time.

Ah the old meter thingo. Everyone loves the meter. My take on the meter is that if a poem is read aloud in the rhythm it was intended, meter will fall in it's place.
Thanks always for going to the trouble of your thorough review

Hi,
This was a combination of new love and old...I think we'll always remember out first love...the thrills are new, the experience exciting...I really enjoyed this poem and yet a feeling of sadness came to me when the lovers turned into old loves...I saw no spag...
This would have been a good entry in the "Story in a Poem contest"..
Thanks for sharing
Hugs,
Victoria

Thanks so much Victoria. I wrote this over 4 years ago and found it in my archives on Facebook well before I joined FanStory so in hindsight there are things I probably would have done differently but I do like the sentiment of young love being lost only to meet up in their final years and reminiscing of where their lives have taken them
I have written over 3700 poems on every subject you can think of but I tend to hover toward Romance and love poems and this story inspired totally by the accompanying image struck a chord with me.

You're quite welcome, dip, it was a pleasure...
I also enjoy the love poems, and write about my husband often...he passed years ago, but there will always be that special spot, only he could fill...
Our words become ours alone, no matter how many we write, and each one has meaning...Take Care..
