He was dragged FIVE MILES?? Are you serious? Are you stinking kidding me? Is that because he ran out of road or what? Did he finally get home, or to the bar, or what? After five miles, he just decided to stop? Good grief, I have never heard of such a thing in my life!

Thanks for sharing such a story. Wow. I'm in shock.

Hi Robin, as the story goes, there was a passenger in his truck as well and the police caught up with him after a witness followed him...He had dropped the passenger off at his home where he dumped the truck and the person underneath it and took off running. Thanks again for your RR&R. SO very appreciated.

This isn't one of those stories that is easy to write, and it's one that a daughter or aunt will never forget. The injustices of the world, constantly reoccurring and never ending, yet we must learn to cope, or crumble. Unfortunately, there are some who do both. Not all stories are enjoyable, but many, like this one, need to be told. Great job. :-)

Hi Barb, thank you for your RR&R, catches (eyesight they say is the second thing to go) and kind words. I just posted Part 2.

This is beautifully written, Mary. As a strong believer in following intuition myself, I think you did right to pursue the possibility that it was the same person. O can't wait for part two to see how this all develops. You have a small typo to look at:
" I ooened it later" - should be opened.
Nicely done and thank you very much for sharing it.

Thank you so much, Mystic Angel (for lack of knowing your first name), for your RR&R and shared feelings on intuition. I appreciate your 'catch' as well. I do not see my phone screen very well, and didn't catch the error. It has been corrected. I just posted part 2, if you are interested.

    Have a wonderful evening.

Hi Mary,

This is so very well written. Your reader is engaged right from the start. Your story is one that this reader relates very well to. You have this reader anxious to see where the story goes from here.

I agree with you that if we get a feeling about something, it shouldn't be ignored. Just reading about your mom's accident again has brought back my own mom's accident, and the horrible feeling of helplessness that one feels when someone they love (and who is so sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly) has to go through so much pain and suffering ... needless pain and suffering that could have been avoided.

To add insult to injury, your mom was found at fault and had to fight with the insurance company to boot! Then came the snowball effect, and your poor nephew took his own life ... so very, very tragic!

I loved "Project Renesting" and "Blame it on the vitriol of the recent election, or the caustic energy of all things political. I've avoided the news like mosquitos avoid OFF". lol I like that despite the gravity of the main situation at hand here, you are still able to interject your great sense of humour (probably what got you through it all at the time!).

Well done, Mary! I have no suggestions for changes, and I didn't spot any SPAGS.

Connie

Hi Connie, thank you so much for your RR&R, and for letting me know it struck a chord with your own mother's accident. I appreciate your kind comments and appreciation of the humor when I could inject it. You are the best!

Oh my goodness, this is such a sad story. I do hope you tell us that you were able to clear your mother of blame and that the person that caused the currently vehicular homicide is the same person and is caught. I will not be able to rest until you post the next part. I am so sorry you and your family have to relive this horrific event again. I am out of sixes or I would give you one for this. Sometimes I just do not understand the human race.

Hi Sasha, thank you for your kind comments and RR&R of this writing. I appreciate the virtual six too. I agree with you on humanity. Maryvale was a wonderful place to grow up, but it turned in the late 70's when the airport was expanded and a lot of drug dens were purchased up by the city and people fled with their new found cash to the community of Maryvale where they could get a nice home and continue with their drug dealing. My parents refused to move from their home in all the years after. I had convinced my mom to move in with my family after the accident. If only...

What a painful time for all of you. It's difficult enough to lose a loved one because of an accident, but to have them wrongly blamed for causing it makes it even worse and so unsettling.
I'm very interested to read the rest of this story.
This didn't make sense to me: 'While my husband expressed doubt it could be the same guy followiing call'

Thank you so much, Heidi for your RR&R and I appreciate your 'catch' as well. I do not see my phone screen very well, and didn't it when I made a revision to the sentence. It has been corrected. As always, I appreciate your keen eye and active reviews. You're the best!

    Have a wonderful evening.

What a horrible thing to have happen. It certainly seems these to vehicular deaths are connected.

I can relate because my father was killed on foot by a drunk driver. Nothing was ever done about that, either.

Looking forward to the next installment. 8-)

Hi Yvonne, I remember now that you lost both your father and grandson to car accidents. I am so sorry. The impact of such a violent death stays with those they left behind. I just posted Part 2. I very much appreciate your RR&R. XO

Hi there,

Certainly feels as if the investigating officer was taking the easy way out.

If lightening can strike twice- lightning.

did not carry homeowners insurance - probably need an apostrophe in there.

All the best

Hi G, and thank you for the catches. I should know better. How do you spell l.a.z.y. c.o.p. When I called him the day after the accident to see if they lifted prints off the dumped stolen vehicle, he said he'd get back to me...you can guess he did not.

Thank you for your RR&R, so very appreciated.

This work has reached the exceptional level

You did a wonderful job with his factual report of your mother's death by a hit and run driver who might be the same driver who drug another man five miles also killing him.
Both accidents were unforgivable.
So sorry for the loss of your mother in such a tragic way and to be blamed for the accident was so unjust.

I shall read the next part. I'm eager to learn what you've discovered.
