It's funny how fast we forget a tragedy. A quick headline, a snipit on CNN and then off to the next story. Nobody sees the tragic loss for the families during this holiday season. The pain they must feel. Your poems bring out that point beautifully. I love the little Haiku club you have there. I've read everyone of them at least once and two are fans of mine. It's amazing how we all become family. I wish I had a six for you.
Merry Christmas!
Have a great day and God bless.

Thank you, Mike, I will accept your virtual six and your blessings. It's odd that I lose one family of artists but gained another in the Haiku Club. Thank you for your review and condolences. It is going to be a hard Christmas here for the families who lost loved ones.

Wow, what a collection of haikus. It's dark, it's sad, it's lonely, it's desolate... and then you get to your comments and it all ties in. Wonderful job expressing grief and devastation. Blessings, AmyJo

Great work on this haiku suite about the Ghost ship. I think you did an outstanding job of creating solid visuals that touched the senses. Even though the tone is somber I hope it helps the healing process for those left behind.
Take care,
Russell

Thank you, Russell, for your review and condolences. I plan to submit this haiku suite to a local literary journal. I, too, hope "it helps the healing process for those left behind."

Hi Sis Cat
This is a very good poem about fire, especially after the experience of the Ghosts ship fire. I hope your talk went well.
left near burnt ruins
flaming red poinsettias
Christmas without friend
Happy holidays

Yes, Jackarrie, the poetry reading/fundraiser went well last night, although I do not know how much was raised yet. My "Ghost Ship" poem was well-received and I was the only poet who performed from memory.
Thank you for your review and for pointing out the haiku that you loved most.
Comment from Gloria ....
Sis, this is an incredible haiku fire suite about a most horrific tragedy. It was so hard to see and watch the findings unfold on TV and the absolute shock of everyone.
You have vividly captured the Ghost Ship Warehouse crematorium.
Very well done, and a powerful post.

Yes, Gloria, I performed my "Ghost Ship" poem at a fundraiser last night for the victims. Some poets personally knew the victims or had themselves performed at the Ghost Ship at earlier concerts. Because of the three minute time limit, I did not get an opportunity to share my haiku, so I am glad that you found "this is an incredible haiku fire suite about a most horrific tragedy." Thank you for your review.

A very smooth and nicely written haiku suite, I can tell that you have put a lot of time and thought in the construction of this moving poem.

Thank you, DonandVicki, for your review. Since I visited the Ghost Ship ruins last Wednesday, I had a lot of impressions, feelings, and observations. When Dean and Gypsy announced a fire haiku challenge, I channeled all of my thoughts into this suite of haiku. Thank you again.
Comment from Lu Saluna
You have written a beautiful Haiku Suite. It invokes great imagery and emotions.
I am filled with sadness for such a terrible way these people lost their lives.
You have more than achieved the Haiku requirements, it is difficult to separate the emotions and be analytical of your Haiku. Other than to say, they do have a profound effect.

Thank you, Lu, for your generous, six star review of my Haiku Suite which "invokes great imagery and emotions." It was a horrible loss. Last night I performed my poetry at a fundraiser where we grieved some more. Some poets knew the people who died or had themselves performed at the Ghost Ship at earlier concerts. I am glad that my writing has "a profound effect."

Yes, Douglas, I am amazed at my output. Usually, I struggle for weeks to write one, but visiting the ruins gave me many ideas. Thank you for your generous, six star review. I look forward to sharing more of my work and getting to know you better, too.
Comment from Ravenbrok
You've touched on all senses. Your choice of diction to convey each sense is remarkable and spot on. I could smell what you wanted me to smell, visualize what you asked me to see. An excellent and well written poem for the emotions!!

Thank you, Ravenbrok, for your generous review. I touched all of the senses by visiting the ruins of the Ghost Ship twice and noting everything I saw, smelled, or felt. Yes, this is a poem for the emotions. Thanks.
Comment from Dorothy Farrell
You have written 6 excellent kaiku. All your lines one and two in each haiku interconnect perfectly and your line 6 in all are good satori. Rules have been followed and fire is evident without actually using the word. Very good. Regards Dorothy

Yes, Dorothy, come to think of it, everyone who accepted this haiku challenge used the word "fire" in their haiku. I proved that I can evoke fire without using the word. Thank you for your review and for noting this.
