This is a very strong and emotional contest entry. I could feel the pain as I read. Cancer is a horrible disease that I wish could be eradicated. Good luck with the contest.

That certainly wasn't what I was expecting, having perused the notes and flash words first. I take it her passing was not expected either. So if that was what you intended- then your presentation was very successful in deed.

I can picture the beach near Atlantic City very well, having vacationed there myself as a child (and as an adult), and taken long walks with my own sister many mornings talking about everything and nothing. I am so sorry that you are living without her and with this pain. You have captured her as she could have been so nicely; you envision your potential friendship beautifully.

Oh, oh I entered this contest as well! This is, in my opinion, a winner. It holds everything a great poem needs: passion, descriptive words, similes, great ending and the remembering here is so haunting and beautiful!

I too have lost my sister, not to such horrors as yours, and I am truly sorry for your loss. Family issues hurt even more when once they are gone. I pray you find Peace one day. Thank you for sharing.

I can feel your pain in this free verse poem. I love my sister too...it would hurt so much to lose her. She also had cancer, but right now she is doing really good. They believe they removed all of it. I pray they did. Your poem allows all your love for you sister to flow out to the reader. Nice poem with well chosen words. God Bless You!

Well written tribute to your sister sure she will enjoy.
Never easy having a relative who does not feel the same closeness to you that you desire to have with them.
Writing allows you to create any environment you happen to chose and, at least on paper, make the wrong seem right.

No one can feel your pain, and few, I think, will identify with the kind of relationship you had with your late sister, but your excellent poem is very involving, with enough depth of story, in my opinion, to be considered for a novel.

Wow, this poem gives me chills. My condolence on your loss.
I can relate to your pain, for I lost a sibling (my brother) to cancer as well. We acknowledged each other as siblings.
Sometimes it best to focus on the positivity. It hurt less, I guess....
