This is truly a meteorologist's series of poems. You certainly put your all into using this form and expounding on what you know so well--the weather's winds.

Nicely metered and rhymed, Carol.

    This was a tough project, I have to admit. The punctuation just about killed me. It was awkward due to the cross rhymes, for which I blame Gynt - lol. Thanks, Ellen :)) Carol

Carol, this is such an impressive poem. What a talented lady you are. Definitely deserving of six stars, but I have already awarded them before reading yours. All I can say to you is that you are a very fine poet. This piece is a joy to read as well as your informative author's note. Marilyn

You have done a formidable job here, apart from the structure, which is not the main attribute, your work ethic and theme around all its aspects are formidable. You conveyed a path of four directions which have great aura and sense.

I like to see work put into any idea...and this is well done.
Bravo.
Best wishes,
RGstar

    Thank you kindly for the review and comments, Roy. Yeah, it took some work for sure. I almost gave up on it once or twice, but I'm glad that I persevered. I'm glad you felt the aura of those winds, which are notable and seem to carve out a way of life on that remote coastline :)
    hugs,
    Carol

Very well done awdl gynt poem about the seasonal winds. Each season brings on a different type of wind, hard and rough, soft and sweet or stormy winds. I liked your nice poem.

It's amazing how the various winds affect the the weather, the mood, the uncontrolled circumstance of life, it is even on of the most expressive metaphors in nature. "Blowin' in the wind" "wind beneath my mind" "catch the wind" Just to name one or two songs. Beautifully done, Carol, excellent work, magnificent project, you like the mythological scrim path, well done, blessings, Roy
Typo : (sere) sheer?

    Thanks, Roy, I'm so happy that you "feel" the impact of the wind, as I do! It certainly does seem to turn up often in cultural reference, as you mentioned. Oh, I did mean "sere" - dry or withered. I should have included that in my notes. Thank you for taking a look at my project! hugs, Carol

Bravo! This is an amazing poem. I applaud your stamina in
crafting this excellent Awdl Gynt.
Such wonderful imagery, vocabulary, rhyme and meter.
I enjoyed your author notes as well. Learned a lot about
the winds that blow to the north of us I'm in So Cal. Perfect
description of Santa Anas.
Beautiful artwork to enhance the presentation.
a well deserved 6 for you.
Nancy

    Lol, yes, it did take stamina. It's so long it was hard to get a sense of the whole thing at once, if that makes sense. I actually live in SoCal too, but used to live up north (Eureka) for about 10 years, forecasting that crazy weather :)) Carol

Wow, wow!, and double WOW!, Carol.
Is this just one Awdl Gynt, or four separate ones? An Almost Adwl Gynt Suite, if you will, lol.

I LOVED the entirety of this poem, but the following Adwl Gynt on the North Winds was my favorite by far:

In bleak despair, the northern wind
is pinned beneath the blue
and cloudless sky, as if it sinned--
so ginned by devil's crew.

Pacific leagues are white and blown,
the currents clash and sailors moan,
taut sails are reefed with curse and groan,

surf laves in foam and spew.

Now safety's found in sheltered bays;
without delay, tuck in!
Wait out the blow for hours or days,
as hazy heavens spin.

On land you'll seek a quiet vale
within the trees and down the dale;
aloft, Boreas breathes and wails

then pales at mornings brim.

The northern winds subside by night;
at last the blight may calm
beneath the falling beams of white;
the lunar light a balm

so beckoned by this month of June,
the heavens shine as if in tune
with Earth, lit up by light of moon;

to east then spy the dawn.
... This being my favorite probably has a great deal to do with the bleak, dreary ambiance this created for me as I read it.

In a word...

AWESOME!

    Lolol, Dean, only you could specify the bleak, dreary ambiance as a compliment! Gynt wrote a long Awdl Gynt about the seasons in the UK, in a similar style to this one. You may notice that the ending line of each segment has a single word that is carried into the first line of the next...and the very last line of the poem has a word that is also seen in the very first. This poem was a BEAR to write, and it took me several efforts over quite a few weeks. I've been a bit preoccupied, to say the least. THANK YOU for the very kind review, my friend! Carol

Well of course I had to award this brave poem a six. It is so well done and tells us all about the wayward winds that storm the California coast. You get it from every direction and it is usually with gusto. This is great Carol. Well done. Nancy

    Lol, yes, the winds DO blow with gusto in northern Cal., that's for sure! Such a great summation of the whole point of this poem, Nancy. I could have worked on it longer, and it probably needs it, but I had to get it off my chest, so to speak. Thanks so much for your kind words and review :)) Carol
