I don't know why people think it's fair to sacrifice the rights of the many just to keep the few happy. What's that saying, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Your writing is so reasoned and rational. At the risk of sounding anti-LGBT, I thought many of the contest entries were not very serious, and they were mostly based on emotion. I thought your entry should have won, after the thought you put into yours. Having the PC approach helps. I read about De Blasio's latest. Why put people through what sounds like a potentially embarrassing situation to get the answers to their sexual pronoun preferences. Those of us who fall behind in keeping up with the government's latest pronouncements could find ourselves in trouble. Great work. judi

This could not be better and no one is angry with you but spitting hate my way that I find hurtful. I couldn't agree more. That is how evil takes it threshold in the .1 percent as it rises to popularity. Hugs to you. I'm the one that broke up havoc of real life saying at least someone else is taking it in the back forty five of the Forrest and those I tried to defend because I felt bad for them sliced my guts out on here. Thank you for standing up for that true.

I absolutely agree!

These days when the world is supposed to be moving forward we are going backwards. Freedom to say what's on your mind or offer an opinion is ok as long as you tread carefully in your phrasing and content. How free is that?

It seems these days that everyone, whether they be black, white, asian, gay, straight, bi, trans, tall, short, fat, thin etc etc .......thinks that they have a right to be offended.

I agree also that making laws that means you must call a guy 'madam' if they request it are expensive, ludicrous and a step too far.

Common sense is all that's needed in society to accept people as they are. As long as they are not offensive they should also have the right to disagree on issues that bother them.

After all that's what a civil society is built upon : )

Lance, this is a very precise and well written article. All should be alarmed that we a slipping into a time when our freedom of speech is taken away, as that goes other of our rights will follow. I didn't find any errors in this well thought out piece. Patricia
