Just in a couple of lines you paint a vivid portrait of that special cat. The respectable and fearless Old Ma Cat. Very well done. Maybe the neighborhood pets miss her.

Thank you. Old Ma was truly unique. No dog dared to enter her barn.

Nice story. I have seen many instances where cats have successfully defended their territories against larger foes. Even in the city when cats have been declawed they seem to be able to get their way.

Thank you. Yes, cats can be very determined about some things. Old Ma did not want dogs in HER barn.

I liked this.
It made me smile as I pictured the regal old puss whipping the dog!
It got my vote, a nice whimsical charming story.
Good job.

I enjoyed your story. I love cats and stories about them. Your few words tell a great story. I like the 'notch in the claw' line. What a perfect picture, too.

Good job and best wishes in the contest.

Thanks for sharing. Jan

LOL. I had a Siamese who hated the dog next door who barked all the time. One day she climbed on top of the separating chain link fence and jumped on his back, claws out, then leaped back in our yard. The dog never barked at her again.
Love the last line-- another notch in her claw. Good one.

Thank you. I love the story about your cat. Old Ma would jump on the dog's backs too.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Our old gentleman was twenty-one and seven months when he went to the resting tree. As a kitten he'd been bailed up by two boxer dogs, and he never forgave nor forgot! He loathed dogs and it didn't matter a damn to him if they were ten foot tall they weren't cat proof. He'd send 'em home screaming and bloody every time. He too died of old age in my arms. Thank you for the six stars, Mabaker. I like the story about your cat too. Old Ma was simply territorial; no dog could come near, or in, her barn.

This is such a.simple yet amusing and charming story. In fifty words you've exposed the unequal world of cats and dogs when we find a barn cat with a queen like persona destroys macho dog with a scratch. Always happens, but the dog supremacy myth remains. Fun story. Best of luck.

A cat who survives to learn how to deal with dogs is rare, but they exist.
Not a bad fifty-word saga, No spags, no wasted words, interesting. Excellent.

Thank you, my friend. It's not easy to tell a story in fifty words. I did the best I could.

A funny story about your old barn cat. Some cats are not afraid of dogs, and delight in giving the dog a good swipe across the nose. Well written with good artwork.
good luck, Annette
