Very well-written prose about the Granville Train crash that happened several years ago, but it is still a landmark that remind each time when you pass there how lucky you were not to be there at the time of the accident.

Thanks for the lovely review, Sis. And you are so right about the reminder. Brett West agreed about the authorities not fixing things until a tragedy happens as was the case with this shonky bridge.

Hello Sankey
You indeed did well writing your true stony of the train wreak
in Granville; along with the photos. Thank God no one was injured.

Actually, there were deaths and injuries, but I am glad it was school holidays so I still got to meet my later to be wife, Louise. I will look in the LInks and see if the deaths and injuries were mentioned. I did post about the men from my church who helped the injured and so on being survivors themselves. Thanks for coming by.

This crash could have been so much worse if it hadn't been school holidays. As it was, it was a terrible day in our history. I went to the link on the disaster. Thanks for adding it.

Yep it sure was a terrible day. I have had this hanging around for ages finally gave my muse a kick in the bum to get to finished today. So relevant to Louise and me I felt it had to be written. Thanks.

Thank goodness for school holidays! How different your lives would have been had Louise been in a taxi that day. This is a great addition to your story, Sankey, well done. And thanks for those links, I'm going to look at them now. :)) Sandra xxx

You are a wonderful storyteller and historian. You and Louise are so gifted. I'm glad the Lord brought you two together and has protected you both. :):)

A few minor improvements for your consideration.

Descriptions such as, familiar, successive, or numerous trips, would work better in the first paragraph.

"I heard that a couple of the men from that church...."
Perhaps--"I heard that a few men from that congregation had been passengers...."

I enjoyed this hIstorically speaking, but it is always difficult to take in loss of life, especially when it is the result of neglect. :(

Thank you for the photos and additional links. I need to look at his some more.

Sending you both my best today as always,
Sally xoxo

Good to be able to return one of your many sixes. It sounds as though Louise had a lucky escape. I remember Neville Wran and his gravelly voice, despite living in a different state. He had a certain gravitas rare in the politicians of today. A great champion for Australian heritage.

Yeah he was a leftard for sure mate. Funny though he lived in a very affluent suburb.Being a lawyer I guess that makes sense. Like our former PM the former journo. Never known a journo that was not a Lefty.

The train crash was clearly a bad one, the photos are amazing and add to your post. Thank goodness it took place when you and so many others were on school break. I was pleased to see your name in my message box. I always enjoy reading your posts.

I remember the tragedy of that crash Geoff. I also remember Neville Wran once having a great speaking, but then he somehow damaged his voice box, and sounded like he had permanent laryngitis. Beauty written, recalling a day of terrible loss. Well done, blessings, Roy

Very interesting and engaging narrative. I like the connection of the historical events to your life event. I could easily envision your story told as a television or other media venue with a narrator introducing segments or episodes. Good work!
