This is such a beautiful piece of free verse, evocative of some far off Pacific island where the wind rests when not called forward. You never cease to surprise me how quickly you master a form that is new to you. I don't think I have seen you in such free verse free flow before. If it wasn't Thursday this would be worth a six - well it is still worth a six if you get my drift but I regret it cannot have one.

One slight problem - this job? Why do I get the impression that it doesn't pay very well?

Lol, the job pays exactly NOTHING! Haha! At first I was going to have my dream job be in the country store above the town. I might still write that, in a few days :)

What a beautiful poem about flowers and your love of nature. I like the flow, so smooth wonderful free verse style, though you have some rhyme. Excellent job sweetie pie.

I found your wonderful use of poetic language to be hypnotic, Carol - despite the block format which I have to admit DOES work here to tumble our thoughts down the page.

Your metaphors and imagery are wonderful, as are your dreamy observations.

Top random rhymes and alliteration.

I rarely give a sixer for free verse, though I love it when done to perfection as here.

Bravo!

Cheers, Ray xx

Haha, now you're gonna get on me for the format every time, lol. I guess I deserve it!

I thank you for the wonderful six, especially knowing that you rarely give them out for free verse!

It's incredible how many colors, tastes and textures you managed to include.
It was a journey of the senses! Also, it had a spiritual feel to it!
Beautifully whimsical and captivating! The kind of poem that tirns down the chatter of the intellect and let one ride the meditative waves...

What's Kalola-Wailaki?
It tried to look it up and all I found was your poem!

Hugs,
J

Well, Kalola is what my Hawaiian friend used to call me. He said it was Hawaiian for Carol, but he might have made that up :)
Wailaki I think is an indian word, the Sinkyone Indians. There is a Sinkyone State Wilderness in far northern California, on the coast, and a campground called Wailaki near there. Beautiful place and close to my dream home! I'm glad it felt spiritual because that's how I feel about that area. If you google Lost Coast California, that's the place :)

Hi, Carol. My only regret is I don't have another six stars for this inspirational gem. Bravo!

"eternity sighs...
my business is calling the wind
the wind to lift my hair in wings
the wings of music in my trees -
hearts stop to hear the thrushes sing -
some days the wind sings, and then
she hears my plea
she turns about and
blows our ashes out to sea"

Wonderful poetry and complete presentation.

Dean is one heck of a guy isn't he? Good friend of mine. Blessings, Carol. Bob

I admired your reflections, accented by rhymes. Your imagery is spectacular--e.g., "tidelines streak blue acres" and personification of "eternity" and the "wind". Your concluding lines are quite dramatic. Cheers- Joan

Thanks so much Joan - northern California near Shelter Cove is the place I'm writing about here. :)

What an ambitious undertaking.
At first I was a bit out of sync,
somewhat confused-thought you were
rambling however I was sucked in and
couldn't stop reading. Found myself
totally lost in the essence of your
write the further I went, trapped in
your colorful descriptions--seduced by
your waves and then there was the salt
air. A most unique and enjoyable read.
no nits, Lora

Lol, the rambling had a purpose, although perhaps seemingly oblique. Thank you so much for this honest, and interesting review.

I loved the furious, rhythmic beat of the soundtrack, Carol.
I also enjoyed the way you've divided this cleverly composed, stunning poem up into three sections:

Night, Love, and Work, and what you hold so near and dear to your heart about each one.

You were absolutely right about the music, too...
...it's captivating.

Great work with this one!

Oh my!
What descriptions and such a flow with the phrases you used.
Mystical and profound.
'world rolls and passions burn
eternity sighs"
