Excellent

This is a complicated poem. The child who wanders through the woodlands and encounters the plants and animals that live in forest is the main character in this narrative, but the setting she's in is as important as the character. Love and respect for nature and for people is the theme of this poem and it is evident that the child's parents taught her these attributes in relationship to her environment and her family. The imagery in this poem is vivid and the tone is conversational which adds to the interaction of people, place, and animals.

Although your looked lengthy, it read really well once I jumped in it.

The lines flowed well, and the pace was just right.

You created great imagery with your well chosen words. The picture is beautiful.

I like your attention to detail. The reader can feel/hear/smell the 'things' of which you wrote.

I liked your use of Mother Nature as a nurturer, and we all a part of her. Your theme fits so well for an Earth Day poem. We all are part of this Earth, and what one does affects the other one.

I also see that the poem is about you. As you grew and learned of your life in Alaska, the same things were happening to plants and animals in the woods. That is a great comparison.

You have expressed a great attitude about life and enjoyment for it.

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments. I do feel so lucky to have grown up here. If you haven't read any of Walt Whitman, I'd recommend giving him a chance. His work is quite conversational and down to earth. I appreciate you taking the time to read and leave your thoughts. :)

It is Earth Day tomorrow and what an image filled poetic romp through nature we have experience in your delightful poem, Kim.

The fireweed is always a thrill to see with a rabbit hopping by too.

I like this form a lot. It works very for me. You gave a real picture into the Land of the Midnight Sun.
