Well written and nicely presented. The simple couplet rhymes are very descriptive and the choice of illustration is in keeping with rthe "storm" theme. Great job

Poet,
I agree with your statements in your author notes
and it's great to know you have such a good friend
that inspired this excellent entry.
I like how you have managed to have end rhymes
in your warm poem.

Lasting friendship a rare commodity these days. You are most fortunate and so is your friend to share a friendship through thick and thin. Well done

Oh, I like this poem a great deal. So much said in so few verses. And I like that you divided the lines into two separate couplets. If you had strung it all together in one four-line stanza, as might have looked a little more traditional, I think it would have felt crowded.
I've always appreciated the subtle irony and depth in the use of the phrase "weather the storm." It does verge on cliched, but again, I like the layers of meaning there ("storm" being a type or kind of "weather," or a symptom of a particular "weather" phenomenon) so I really don't think of it as a cliche.
One thought, and it has to do with the rhythm of the work. Lines 1, 2, and 4 each have eight syllables, and I love the flow of that pattern. Line 3 was the slight let-down for me because it only has seven syllables, and when I tried to read the poem out loud, I stumbled over that missing syllable. I'd love to see you try to find a different word or phrase for that third line that would bring you to eight syllables (so you have eight syllables in each line, respectively) AND that would still bring you in at the 25-word limit. It could be kind of a fun challenge. :)
Beautiful job!

Thank you for your kind review and generous rating. Grace. I have taken your constructive advice aboard, but am finding it a little difficult to find a different sentence with the same number of words, but an extra syllable, without losing the feeling and emotion of the poem. However, if it comes to me (which sometimes it comes out of the blue (muse waking up?!)) ... But thank you for your great and honest review. It is much appreciated. Warmest regards :o)

What a lovely accolade to a dear friend...
The promise to always be there is captured in so few words but is truly evident in your poem.
This is a friendship that will last as it has seen and lived through tough times and dark days!
Good entry to the prompt.....good luck with it : )
