This is quite a poem you have created here. It appears to me that you have done well with this complicated structure. I wouldn't try one; I'd be afraid I'd hurt my head. Cheers.

Thank you for adding the authors notes to help me understand the form. I have seen so many different forms lately that I am having a hard time remembering.
This piece is excellently done in flow and form.
I love the words you use to bring thr reader into your world

Hi Barb,
I was learning as I went along :) Thank you for your wonderful comments. I can tell you that it makes it easier to make a small chart for each stanza with the end word to keep them in order. (I learned that on stanza 3 lol) Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment. There is a selection of the Famous Sestina poems at PoetrySoup.com if you are interested in reading more. A couple were on more modern topics than the one I chose to feature by Ezra Pound, but I felt like his had the flavor of the troubadours who originally perpetuated this style.

Not bad at all, for a first time!!! (My first was an unintelligible
mess - lol - my second made sense, but the subject was my
cat. . .not exactly "high minded ;-)
Nice job on the wrap-up stanza (I always find that to be
the hardest to pen).
I wish you luck in pursuing the perfection of this form - you
seem to be off to an excellent start :-)

Hi Leineco!
I am so happy to hear from someone who has actually written one. Your review makes me happy that I stuck it out and finished lol I had my doubts ;) Thank you for the kind comments. (especially on that wrap up stanza... I reworked that a few times!)
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment!

Comment from Gloria ....
Kim what an amazing undertaking for your NaPo book. A sestina is a little bit fiddly and it seems you've done an exceptional job of it and with an incredibly important and timely theme. What is it with us and war anyway, but the aggression just doesn't seem to end anywhere.
I am most impressed in how you've pulled this all together in perfect form with excellent use of enjambment and iambic pentameter.
For your first sestina I am most impressed. Many congrats to you!

Hi Gloria!
I am ecstatic over the wonderful comments from you! Outside of the few I read researching this selection, I wasn't familiar with this form at all. I am enjoying my explorations, though :) Pound was exceptional with imagery, I really enjoyed his!
Thank you for this most encouraging review!!

I enjoyed the well structured poem and I can tell that you put a lot of yourself into the work. I enjoyed the informative authors notes as well.
