Thanks for entering, Art.
Brilliant imagery of lack of inspiration and frustration in all three lines.
3rd line is thought-provoking and COULD imply the writer spends so much time at his desk, he hasn't time to clean, and thus the flies.
This is a sure contender in my opinion.
Good luck and best wishes, Ray.

Thanks for creating this contest, Ray.
Glad you enjoyed the imagery your contest inspired, and found the 3rd line thought provoking. We know that lack of inspiration has gone on for far too long when the flies are drowning in the coffee. Hopefully, the spaced-out, frustrated writer will clean the desk and wash the cups. Then he should go for a walk and consider taking a vacation.
Do appreciate all your comments. It's fun to read the other entries inspired by your topic.
Cheers ... ;o) Art

Yeah, good entry on the yawn prompt, chewing the pencil nothing comes to mind. Good luck on this and have a wonderful day.

This is vivid camera work! We get a sharp sense of HOW you write. But you may be the only writer I know who still writes with a pencil. My coffe cup also attracts insects.

Thanks. Glad to know my coffee cups aren't alone when it comes to attracting insects. Actually, I use pencils and erasers for writing music, and have a plethora of pens for writing stories and poems. This poem is a bit of a metaphor as I think most writers have been there once or twice when it comes to lack of inspiration. Do appreciate your comments. Cheers ... ;o)
