Excellent in every way. I love the challenge of telling a story in verse, as it seems you also must. Good use of both rhyme and rhythm. This is what I consider real poetry. Also, if an assignment is to write a certain thing, and no words come to mind, a person can always write about the search for that thing. That's just what you've done, and done it very well.

And the funny thing is the assignment was my own lol I'm doing the NaPoWriMo challenge and have chosen to explore a different poet and/or poetry style for each day in April... I'm having a lot of fun with it. Thanks for a great review.

Tennyson can be a real challenge and Dorothy Parker was a witty woman who used her sharp tongue to tell how stuffy she thought his style was. Reading Tennyson is probably not at the top of every reader's list but as you point out Dorothy Parker is. Parker's humor shows through and so does yours.
