Well now I know where the name came from. I often wondered about that. I never knew it was the name of its creator. You have some amazing given names in the US that you just do not see obver here. I guess we are too conservative.

Hi Pantygynt,
I had absolutely no idea before I researched it. I've never seen the name "Etheree" before, I mean as the given name of a person. It is really quite unique, especially with her being born in 1918. I think most of the really crazy names started to come out in the 80's and 90's lol Nowadays, who knows what people will name their kids after, it is insane. All in the name of being unique, I suppose lol Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

Kim,
I enjoyed your etheree. I had no idea that this format was named for an actual person. Thanks for the notes. You did a great job with the format. Your lines are in good form and tell a great story. The picture is amazing. I like how the use of that picture is alluded to in your lines where you write of those who died. Good job on the use of some alliteration and many precise word choices to convey your message. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Janny,
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I actually had no idea that the Etheree was named for an actual person, either. I'm learning so much researching different styles and poets. I'm loving this project! I appreciate all of your notes on the form of the poem and specific wording. :)

A very well-written Etheree Poem. I also posted an Etheree today, although not for the contest. Very interesting history and background on the Etheree.

Hi Sandra,
I was delighted to discover that Etheree was an actual person and felt prompted to share what I could find of her history. The fact that we can find practically anything on the internet these days and the degree of difficulty I had in finding even the scarcest details of her life intrigued me. I knew none of that before I started researching this morning. I'm loving my Poets and Poetry project. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.

You are definitely a natural poet Kim. I enjoyed your powerful and sensitive Etheree, a form I have seem many times on fanstory.
I particularly liked:-
Reinforced threads of steel,
And
-Stripes dyed red with the blood of men whose lives.
Again I found your author notes most instructive and appreciate the time you take to share this information xx

Thank you for such an educational post and the poem is entertaining and cleverly executed. The imagery is carefully crafted and paints a clear picture in the reader's mind. The photo compliments the poem perfectly. Good luck with the rest of your writing.

What a fascinating woman. I hadn't realised that she invented the poetic form. Your author notes were most interesting and, of course, your double Etheree is a great tribute to her. I learn a great deal from my fellow poets here on FS!

Hi Tony!
I'm learning myself, too. I really started enjoying the Etheree style with some of the contests that have been sponsored here at Fan Story. I didn't realize that the style itself was named for an actual woman. I now see Etheree as a fascinating name, poetic style, and woman. Thank you for taking the time to read and review.
