Hi Justafan,

The artwork is certainly is compelling. IAmCat calls that an "Ekphrastic poem", one that is inspired by the artwork. I think you've done well to convey the images it evoked in your mind. Great work!

If that's yer average angel in the artwork, I'm off to Heaven as soon as I've written this review, Missy. Oh, I'll rescue her and dispose of the Devil first, of course.

My fave free verse presentation of short random length lines and stanzas for extra impact, IMO. Maybe even dispose of all caps and punctuation, too.

Excellent expression, in metaphor, of how your life is a dungeon compared to the blooming spring fields of the love you've lost.

Best wishes, Ray xx

Well hi there, Ray. I get mixed reviews on the punctuation deal...confusing. I just let "Ginger" help me with that while I just throw my thoughts out :)

Thank you, sweetie, for this entertaining review :)

This work has reached the exceptional level

A very tightly written psychological piece about the effect of a controlling mind/heart on the emotions and responses of the writer who pleads to be released from a dire situation which she doesn't understand. In the end the voice reveals that she knows it's him causing her pain and via the imagery of chain and heart begs to be set free once more. There are several indications that the writer is a free spirit who trusts in love and enjoys the emotional response to being just that type of person. Like the butterfly confined, she needs to fly again. I really liked the tight stanzas, the combination of question and statement, and the careful construction of the psychological file. You really are developing an individual style. I can't improve this. Excellent work.

Begs the question, what is behind the desire that she fears?
That is a nasty little picture. You look good in it...
I can never tell with your poems, ecstasy or remorse? Just keep me guessing, don't you?

If you would be so kind as to tell me where the key to her chain is kept, I'd be more than happy to release this sexy angel from her bondage, heh-heh.

That's one stunning picture you've used, Missy. The free verse poem which you've written around it is quite stunning as well. A melancholy, moribund musing, without a doubt.
I enjoyed it.

Powerful artwork and poem. She is feeling lost without him and trapped. Good imagery and emotion used. I hope he comes back soon.

Nicely written to use the actual prison cell for a metaphoric one. Sad that what starts out as love can gradually become a prison for some. I like the atmosphere you have created with your words and enhanced with your presentation. A strong poem.

What a stunning picture to go with your verse. It draws imagery out of the verse that would not be nearly as strong without it. Good work
