Great telling of a tragic occurrence, fire doesn't compromise just absorb -a raging anger to devour: think our brother has great loneliness. Just too, hot to be a close companion. Loved the conveyance and found it to be pleasing in its read.

Hi TPAC and thanks for reading and reviewing my poem and it is still very hot today and we are all on Fires Bans and alerts in many places. Fires in Victoria are our biggest disasters and every year we seem to have several major ones. I am glad you found this pleasing to read but I hope I dont have to write about another one Wishing you a very Happy New Year with Cheers Christine😄

Chrissy, this epic poem about a brush fire disaster slightly reminded me of a sort of cadence, rhythm and beat that one of my favorite Australian poets of all time, a poet which went by the name of Banjo Paterson, often utilized in his own work. You've probably heard of him, I'm sure, but if you haven't, he penned such epics as Behind the Scenes, With The Cattle, and Man from Snowy River...among many others. Next to Edgar Allen Poe, he's probably the poet I love most, and much of my internal rhyming poetry is a combination of his style intertwined with Poe's classic Victorian styled poetry.

Okay, enough about Banjo, this is about your poem here.

One can only imagine having never been in a brush fire just how intense the heat truly is. But you bring those feelings and horrors to life here in your superbly written poetic story.

Simply fabulous work, Chrissy.
Have a very Happy New Year in 2016.

Hi Dean wow I am so honoured that You think so highly of my poem based on Banjo's rhythm and beat as that is who I used as my influence for this I just love his work and of course ( see authors notes) The Man From Snowy River is one of my favourites I tried really hard to get this just write and so you fabulous review and 6 Stars makes me very Happy so thank you very much. I have written other on a similar basis and may post them one day also.
We are all on high alert for bushfires today our NYE so hoping no fires break out again as Victoria is one od the highest fire places in the World along with California ( which I believe had fires also at this time) I have just heard of Floods in America too and of loss of life through these. We have also had our fair share of floods in Australia mainly in Queensland and New South Wales . It seems that there is always something devastating happeneing somewhere?
Anyway on a lighter note I do hope you Have a Very Safe and Happy New Year and do so appreciate your opinion and supports With many Cheers Christine😀😀

Yes, it's a crazy weather pattern even here in Ohio where I live, Christine. 18 people were killed in a town not 30 miles from here as a rogue tornado ripped its way through the tiny town of Amelia. It is unheard of to have tornadic activity this late in the year in Ohio.
Anyhow, enough about that. A new year is almost upon us rife with possibilities.
Have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends, Christine.
    Here's to 2016...

Your poem pays an honest tribute to that awful day. We saw it on our news. It was truly devastating. On the positive--it was nice to see people reaching out and helping others.
Happy New Year!

Thank you so much Nicole for reading my poem relating to the dreadful fire at Christmas. It is another hot and windy day here again so We are all being on high alert again and some areas are being evacuated in case the fire re breaks out . Yes there is a lot of good community spirit in Australia but It is still such a sad event for many .I wish you a very Happy New Year also and hope you celebrate well A big Cheers from Christine 😄

I was still trying to work out the form the author had that you borrowed from. Still. This write was full of depth anddescriptiveenergy. A certain reality that lets us wonder...why this time of year...or at all?
One cannot comprehend the power of a bush fire unless up close.
Thank you for posting this.
My very best wishes.

Hi RGstar, my poem is based on thr rhythm and meter from Banjo Paterson and I find this style although challenging can get a great beat to it ( Google up the 'Man from Snowy River 'and have a read it is a great Aussie poem and a favourite among bush balladiers. ) But thanks for your comments and lovely rating and I hope we don't face the same event tonight while we celebrate NYE here as it is going to be another hot dry night. My best wishes to you also for a great New Year. Cheers Christine😀

Your poem told a story in perfect rhyme and meter. How very sad when tragedy occurs but doubly so when it's a holiday. Here in California, USA, wild fires plagued us all last summer. They destroy lifes.

Hi seaglass My many thanks for your time to read my poem and for your great review and rating. Yes it was a great tragedy for the folk along this lovely Coast line 116 houses and wildlife lost how sad to jave to now rebuild. we are expecting another very hot night tonight NYE here in Victoria and still on high alert with the weather. Hopefully no fires will breakout but one is never sure Have Very Happy New Year Cheers Christine😃

I could hear the wild bush horses and the colt from old Regret getting away as I read this. You've pretty much got Patterson's rhythm working here. Tragic events. I posted one about the 85,000 hectare fire here in late November, but that seems to pale into insignificance after this horrid fire. I liked how you developed the narrative in this including all phases of the disaster. Using 'The Man from Snowy River' as the blueprint was a good choice as the galloping rhythm moves along at pace just as the fire did and just as you wish us to go trying to keep up with the frenetic pace set by the fire. Well devised, nicely penned, ultimately sad.

Hi mfowler and thank you for such a terrific review of my poem I am so pleased you thought it welll devised and nicely penned. I have used Banjo Paterson, MFSR a few times as a tenplate as I just love this galloping rhythm and it lend itself for a good write. And yes fire is always a tragedy especially when there is a human cost ( also no less animals and poples property) We are in for another similar day this NYE so I pray for a Safe and Happy New Years Eve for all . With appreciation for your comments they mean a lot Cheers and Happy New Year to you and yours Christine😀

What a powerful poem. Living on the other side of the world, we only see what the media portrays to us, your poem has added heart to those images. These people are in my prayers.

Hi chcbeck Thank you for reading and reviewing my poem and for your great rating . Unfortunately we have too many fires in Victoria as it is bush fire prone and we are again bracing for another very hot New Years Eve so I hope you don't see any more reports in the media. I felt a need to write about this one as we were enjoying our Christmas Eve/day festivities while these little Coastal towns were alight and so many lost everything. I hope you have a great NYE and so from the other side of the world many Cheers and best wishes for the New Year Christine😀

This is yet another interesting poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. This is so apt and fitting. I was just watching a documentary about the top 10 disasters in the world. The Tsunami in Indonesia in December 2004 featured. Disasters don't recognise Christmas or St Stephen's Day. Happy new year.

Hi Tomes. I thank you very much for reading my poem and giving it such a terrific review and rating of 6 stars. I am so grateful and pleased you found it worthy. Yes there always seems to be a disaster somewhere in the world, and this is one many folk here will remember on Christmas Day. We are bracing ourselves here in Victoria for a very hot New Years Eve with temperatures expected to be as hot as Christmas Eve so I do hope we can have a celebration without another fire outbreak. many cheers for your comments and I do wish you a very Happy New Year and thanks so much for your support of my work. Best wishes Christine😃

Hi Cookie, I am very grateful for you kind words, and heartfelt message for my poem. Luckily I was not near the fires it was along our beautiful coastline in Victoria, but many local folk and tourist to that area were affected on this Christmas Eve/Day and all I could do was watch it unfold on the news, but I felt compelled to write this poem as a way of my dealing with their grief. Yes the image is very confronting and shows just how ferocious this fire was. We are still on high alert all over Victoria as we face a very hot and windy New Years Eve so fingers crossed we don't have a repeat episode. Thank you for you blessings and I hope you have a Very Happy New year,, with many Cheers Christine

What a terrifying situation, and so tragic with all the homes lost. Thankfully no people died...
Your poem is a heartfelt account of this event, and feels deeply emotional. Your words are effective, I feel like I was there - and we had a big fire in Southern California this past week too, although not as bad as that one.

Hi Carol. Thank you very much for reading and reviewing my poem. I was written with a degree of sadness and emotion as I wanted to acknowledge this event . Did you know that Victoria (Australia) and California are two of the worst places in the world for bushfires and we seem to have outbreaks at a similar time and I have often see the Californian fires broadcast on our TV I am glad it wasn't as bad as the Coastal on here. and once again these people are on high alert as it is predicted to be another hot windy night for NYE so hopefully nothing will happen. On that note I do wish you and yours a Very Happy New year and thanks for you support Cheers Christine
