I thought this was a fascinating essay wich covered a lot of ground. My only puzzle is that you chose to categorise it as 'General Fiction'. Surely it should be 'Commentary & Philosophy Non-fiction'.

You're absolutely correct, jpduck. A silly oversight which I've now corrected, thanks to your input. Comments much appreciated :)

Exceptional. I agree with everything you wrote here. While it would be marvelous to live forever, I have never found any prove that this is so. It would be wonderful to see my beloved son who died in 1985 or my mom and dad who passed so many years ago. However, I'm sensible enough to realize it is highly unlikely this will ever happen. Very good work.

Thank you so much, prettybluebirds, for the lovely review, and the wonderful rating. Losing loved ones is not an easy thing, and I suppose in a sense it is natural to wish we could be with them always. In some senses, we can, of course, but to go into that would have made the essay longer than I intended. I found it touching when I read Carl Sagan's discussion of this very idea when he spoke of the death of his own parents, and only yesterday I came across a transcript of his own daughter speaking about losing him. It was quite moving. All the best, and thanks again.

You have a way with words which is indicative of your gift as a creative writer. You have a natural flair for story telling and it is easy for you to cook up plots that will interest the readers. Although I must admit, I don't agree with all that you have written here, and whatever justifications I will offer for my disagreement, it won't matter because you are so convinced with your concept and view of life. Please do watch the video of David Wood, he is a certified atheist like you and talks like you, but he is now a converted Christian. God bless.

Thank you for your kind words and thoughtful review. Some will no doubt disagree, but I think it would be a very boring world if we all thought the same. I'm always happy for people to disagree with me, as long as we don't have to be disagreeable :) I am interested in alternative viewpoints, so I will try to view the video of which you speak. Again, thanks for taking the time to check out my essay.

I thought that this was an interesting piece on the concept of immortality. I liked how you presented your viewpoints and how you looked into many other views. You held my interest from beginning to end and I couldn't find any faults. Good luck in the contest...Jacob

I thought this was well written. I thought you did a very good job of grabbing the readers attention with the opening paragraph - and a little fact. This continued to be interesting but I would suggest a little more fact in this. A little more scientific support. But well written - easily grabbed and held onto my interest.

Thanks Michael. I appreciate your suggestion, and will look at it. My aim was to avoid making it too dry and "academic", but I'll review it in light of what you've said.
