I like the mystical tone of this fantasy free verse. Nice alliteration in flame flicker to add to the magic of the moment. Excellent description of the land fish and the longing for the sea--but on warmer days.

I tried to review this and the site wouldn't save my review. I hope it works this time. I like the images you describe although I'm not sure what you mean by mermaid flame. A candle flame that reminds you of a mermaid? The lines are graceful and evoke images of the sea.

I do not know where this idea came from, I was imagining a flame from a candle appearing to look like a mermaid. I appreciate you taking time to read and enjoy. My imagination does go wild at times. Elaine

Very charming and whimsical. Great description of the mermaid. She seems to make herself at home anywhere. The narrator is warmed and inspired by the lovely sea creature. She brings a sense of the sea to the narrator, who seems lonely. judi
