This creative effort of navel gazing as you remember Springs of past and present has a strangely intoxicating way of entering the consciousness without actually announcing itself with any particular moment. You begin with that brilliant piece of introspection about the emerging butterfly. Sitting with arms out like a birthing monarch brings on these musings about what the guy in the apartment opposite might think. Part 2 reminisces about springtimes past and present and the significance of hope that seasons of newness bring on. Part 3 looks at the creative elements of springtime and presents the reader with thinking to do about his or her motivations in spring. A wonderfully involving piece. I look forward to part 2.

I was simply having fun with this piece, not planning on it going anywhere. The next one will be meatier. Thanks so much, Mark!

Well written, you strike me as a ponderer, sitting there saying to one's self, "why is this so?" And striking out on a writing odyssey that collects, collates, and explores new scribing climes amidst the droning mundane! Well done Jay, I am always enjoying your wonderful writings, but because you tend to be sensible, self deprecating, and are a reluctant judge, I just enjoy what you write, I occasionally glean something from others for inspiration, but I read yours for enjoyment! Well done, good writing, blessings, Roy,

Thank you, Roy. It's always grand to have you on board. This is just the hinge for part II that should post before long.

I just love the illustration you used for this one, marvelous. Sadly, springtime only conjures up the horrific heat of summer. We haven't had a real spring in so long, I have forgotten what a real one is like. Yes, it is cooler than summer but 85 degrees is still hot and the only saving grace spring has is there is a cool breeze at night. None in summer. Since I've lived here for ten years I have completely forgotten past springs...okay, I do occasionally daydream about tulips, daffodils, and tiny crocus none of which grow here...thanks, now I'm depressed.

Don't let yourself get depressed in paradise. Take a deep breath, go get a taco and a jolt of Dos Equis. Create your own springtime. Thanks for enjoying my post. It was only a hinge for part II to swing on. Hope you're here for that.

Not to worry, we don't have much of a winter here and from November through May it is really springtime. Summer doesn't arrive until the end of may and usually lasts until the end of November. The Dos Equis does sound good, think I'll have one.

You always, in my mind at least, are bursting forth with bits of spring. You will never grown old, not as long as your words are still working their magic, Jay. I need to send something special to Ben Colder for telling me to seek you out. You have been a blessing to me that is for sure :)
I love this Jay.

Always still justafan,
Missy

Spring is a beautiful time of year. I love it. Of course, here in Texas spring can and usually is extremely hot, although no this year. I enjoyed reading your post,

This is great, Jay. I am glas you are sharing them from your blog. I really like these bits of philosophical introspection. I think we need the new year where it is. That's about all that keeps me going until spring. And then, there are the numerous bouquets from my admirers on Valentine's Day. I'm sure you get them to. Don't all of us who write our hearts out AND spend money to do it. I was sure Tom would send me a bouquet this year, rather than just reiterating for the umpteenth time that we can't reverse this update so we can post in Fanstory Classic. Most changes are good once you adapt, this one never will be. Have a great afternoon, my friend. I hope you continue sharing pieces like this~Debbie

This is yet another interesting and thought-provoking post that the author has created with this piece of work. Again, the focus is on writing. This is a subject that is close to all of our hearts. Well done.

Hello Jay
I like your thoughts of how as the decades move on I'm nearing my eighth decade (next spring)
You got me thinking like you sitting in your chair.

Each year I feel like a butterfly stuck in a chrysalis, waiting for the perfect time (spring)I will burst forth and
spread my wings to find more joy in life.

Gert

I enjoyed this, Jay, although somewhat
different to your usual style of writing.

Springtime to me means new life - growing things
and - behold - warmer weather. And, as you say,
a time for new beginnings.

for the creative mind(.) I hope you'll explore

Thanks for the catch, Margaret. This post "blog" written all over it. It's not complete without Part II. This whole post is like a hinge for part II. While you won't find anything in the next post to help your writing (you don't need help there!) you will find it meatier, and many here should find it helpful. Thanks for your honesty on this one, though--and your keen eye!

Excellent photo that complements your chapter perfectly. I enjoyed the read about an older guy and a butterfly. He thinks back to his childhood. Even though I am not that old ( 63 years ) I too think back. Nice story.
