This form of poetry screams for a punch, a whack, a bang, or some form of shock and this writer has delivered a brilliant example! I enjoyed this and thank the author for a fine job! HIS GRAYNESS

Thank you, His Grayness. I'm so glad that you found the "punch line" appropriate for the haiku. I really appreciate your time and comments. Your consideration means a lot to me.

So good to see your name pop up on my screen! I admired the vivid scene you painted and the impending doom you conveyed in so few syllables. Best wishes in the haiku contest- Joan

This is a fanciful take on moonbeams and their destruction by the sunrise. I like the idea of "glowing wings" (although does something with wings "hurl" itself anywhere? Or does it...glide?). I also like the alliteration in the last line: dawn/disaster. Good luck in the contest?

Thanks for the kudos, Julia. I appreciate it. I was looking was something that might foreshadow tragedy, and I also wanted to stay with a bit of alliteration. I do agree with you, though, and I decided to change it to float. Thanks for the constructive criticism. Most people don't understand that it's the sort of thing that helps. I'm grateful. Thanks for the good luck wishes, too! I'm sure I'll need them.

    With gratitude,

What's from outer space is something even the experts won't always figure out. Your poem really shows how small our existence is. Wonderfully written. Good luck with the contest. Les

Thank you so much for the "wonderfully written" comment and the kind review, Glasstruth. I appreciate your time. I was inspired by this Thunder Moon. It's been lovely, and I'm looking forward to the Blue Moon on the 31th.

Have a great day. Thanks again for the encouragement!

Wow. That was terrific. I didn't get it the first time but read it again had the "ah ha!" moment. I love how you write, in a creative way, that morning is disaster for the night. Great job!

Thanks so much for the great review and your wonderful support! I really am grateful that you took the time to read and share your "a ha" experience, too. I had wondered if people would "get it" at all. I'm so glad that you did!
Thanks again, Michael. Have a great night. Enjoy these ephemeral moonbeams while they last.
